Roush is not Ford. Roush modifications are not covered under the factory warranty. It's a common misconception that Roush collaborates with Ford and therefore any Roush products are warranty compliant. Simply not the truth.

If a Roush modified vehicle has an issue that can be attributed to a Roush modification, regardless of how minor, it is the dealer's responsibility to contact Roush for warranty support. Ford Motor Company DOES NOT support Roush mods nor provide warranty on Roush upgrades. Some people learn this the hard way, don't be one of those people.

I get what you’re saying, but I have a local dealer who is a distributor for this package mentioned and they install it. Is warranty work now at the discretion of the individual dealer at this point? I.e. Dealer installs tune; tune blows up engine. You’re saying I’m SOL at this point, and my factory and extended warranties are useless?

So I’m assuming the 5.0L Roushcharger Phase 1 upgrade that has a 3yr/36,000 mile warranty that comes with it is covered by Roush & not Ford then? I’d hope Roush wasn’t worse than Ford at honoring warranties.

When we do Roush installs in house here as an authorized installer, there is a 3 year/36K mile warranty based on the date of vehicle purchase, not date of parts installation. This can also vary in offering depending on what parts are installed.

Correct. Any implied warranty is via Roush. Ford cannot warranty 3rd party modifications that have not been through Ford engineering validation and approval.

Not really. You are at the mercy of the Roush warranty at that point; the dealer is authorized to perform warranty work but only within the guidelines set within the Ford Warranty & Policy Manual...which does not cover any modifications. If the dealer installs a tune and the engine lets go, warranty is on the dealer or the 3rd party that supplied the tune, for example Roush.

Some dealers will brag that they'll warranty modifications...that all goes out the window as soon as a Ford corporate engineer shows up and voids the entire vehicle warranty due to the modifications.

Wow, thanks for the clarification. I had definitely planned on doing this come bonus time, but now not so much.

Yeah, I had a manufacturer engineer try that trick with me. It went away - warranty restored- as soon as my lawyer wrote the ‘strongly worded letter’ counseling them on the requirements of the factory warranty.

of course, anything directly impacted is then no longer covered, but they can’t legally deny warranty coverage on the entire vehicle unless they can show a direct cause. so when my moon roof goes out after my powertrain warranty is voided for tuning, Ford is still covering my busted moon roof whether they like it or not, while I’m in the warranty period. Or, they’re covering it as well as my pain and suffering, legal fees, expert witness fees as well as their corporate lawyer fees and yeah, I can get continuances too, and it costs me a ton less than it does them. So, does Ford really want to spend $18,000 dollars on my $300 moon roof track replacement? I don’t know, and I hope not. But they can, if someone decides to ‘void my entire vehicle warranty’.

I may have been facetious in my reply, I was insinuating that the entire vehicle was modified and therefore no warranty coverage would apply. As you said, only components affected by the modifications, damage, or abuse will be subject to warranty cancellation. An engine tune will not result in cancellation of the warranty on the moon roof.

Well- my Roush Pak 1 kit came in yesterday and I am having it put on first thing Monday morning at the Ford dealership.
