Roush Exhaust & CAI.

I don't believe this was answered, and I apoligize if it has been. I got my Raptor last year after coming home from Afghanistan. I was home for 4 months, and here I am deployed again......anyways.....I am supposed to be home next month so I just ordered the Roush exhaust and CAI. Do I need to have the truck tuned to maintain optimal performance? It has stock everything right now as I havent been able to work on it until now, except for the Conceal carry holster in my center console. :gr_guns:

I don't believe it HAS to be, but I would. I got a time for mine and wow it's all I can say. The truck screams with my 89 perf tune from 5 star.

It definitely does NOT have to be tuned. If you do tune, it will make that much more power because of the mods, but a tune is not required. You just have to realize that with a tune, it could cause issues with your warranty down the road if you have any motor/tranny issues. Just be aware of that if you do decide to tune.

Hi Guys...

I was one of the 1st ones to install the Roush catback with the CAI kit. Like most of you I really like the sound. But...have you guys noticed any rust yet? With the exception of the muffler, I've got a ton of rust on the pipe from the muffler back...even the "y" pipe with the chrome tips is rusting badly. Must be a real cheap grade of stainless.

Dunnbrother.... Any updates ???

Yep, LOTS of rust. Here are a few pics of mine after just one year. Had to take off the Roush because I'll be picking up my '13 in the next day or 2. I forgot how damn quiet these trucks are when stock. Probably going to go with the SW side exit for the '13. Love the sound/tone of the Roush, just need a change. Anyway, here are some pics...

I have not spoken with Roush. Didn't realize the extent of the rust until the system was removed from my '11.

I've installed a SW with the Lightning Exit on my '13...not quite as loud as the Roush but still pretty wicked.

It looks like a lot of that would polish right up.

I was running SOLO exhaust on my F150 Ecoboost. They run good steel and with the salt in the winter it looked like that in a short time. Didn't have my 5.4L 2010 with SW headers on it long enough (and lived in MO) to notice any rusting. Also ran the Roush on my 2011 5.0 Mustang (lived in MO and NC at the time though) and didn't see any rusting either. I think the norther climates are just really hard on exhausts, even nice 304 SS.
