I'm just curious, you guys saying the Raptor rides rough are you coming from driving cars and suvs? Or have you always had big trucks? I've always had F150s, F250s, and F350s and this truck is definitely the best riding of any of them by far in my opinion! I'm not saying it rides like a caddy or town car but it's pretty dam nice.

Dave

Came from a Mercedes. But the hummer h2 still rides better than the raptor.

The roughness has a lot to do with the tires. If you are coming from a car then you are coming from a P-rated tire. Most trucks are running D-rated, which is much stiffer in the side walls.

Yeah I came from a Mercedes ml350. But the raptor is still rougher than the hummer h2 with the same tires but different speed rating

You can't have everything, you want a great offroad riding truck and super smooth on the road too? You need to upgrade to kings 3.0 if you want the best of both worlds.

Really an H2 rides better than a Raptor... I have driven an H2 and IMO it is not even close. The Raptor rides soooo much better and I am still on the 1st setting.

As far as the Beer Burner, Mercedes is a great car, my mom had the ML - whatever one the 8 cylinder is. I liked it she hated it. She had always driven the sedan Benz,. Just a learning curve.

Wait - you are 20 years old and already have a Hummer and Mercedes under your belt?

What are you going to be driving when your 40?.... A Bugatti Veyron.

I am jealous. I was driving a Chevy State Body with Farm Plates when I was 20. I thought the Granny gear was the coolest thing invented.

Fred did your mom have the ML63 it has the 6.2L V8

I don't know what it was, but she hated it and I loved it. It was pretty fast.

I think it was one of the AMGs, I guess the SVT for Mercedes but way more expensive.

The H2 and 3 is nothing more than a glorified SUV. However the H1 is bad ass.

Yeah well my Beemer was much smoother than the Raptor, although it could not compare to the Acura. Now that was one smooth ride. Kind of reminds me of my dad's Cadillac. However a Lexus is like butter on the ol hemorrhoid... or is it vaginitis. Grey Poupon anyone? You guys are starting to sound like a bunch of ******* on an FJ forum. That thing needs a horse pounding! Now ******** your balls, and go offroading already

I know whats wrong, your crazy. Your comparing it to a Passat? Really? Can't believe no one else got on him about this, you want to feel the road, its a racing truck, not a cadillac.

Crazy? Yes, that I am, but that's a whole another issue. ;)

Read my post.
Yes, I'm comparing it to a Passat WHEN encountering potholes, expansion slots, etc.
Passat has a fairly stiff suspension making it fun when you take it out for a 'spirited' ride, but when you run over the above metioned stuff, you don't bounce in the seat like I do in the Raptor (the back seat feels even worse, as I was told).
I did own a '85 Fleetwood Brougham, so I know what that feels like. THAT is a boat ride.
I never expected the Raptor to be ultra plush road cruiser even though many owners make it sound that way. I spend 10 years in a Nissan Frontier CrewCab, long bed, SC, and that was the biggest gripe I had with it - the bouncy rough road/street ride.
The Raptor feels maybe 10% better.

P.S.
I'll let you slide this time for calling me crazy. You'll have to earn that privilege ;)

Offroad yet? So smoooooth!!!

Are you still running the stock rims and tires? The ride is affected immediately when you go aftermarket.

The stock leafs are less than wonderful. You need National standard leafs to eliminate the "shudder" and "jitter" (wheel hop) you are experiencing. Night and day difference.

Tire pressure tip from a similar thread:
Draw a chalk line across your tires. Drive across a parking lot and adjust air pressure until the chalk is worn off evenly across the surface. Will get best wear and ride at this pressure.

Some have reported that the ride smoothes out some after a break-in period of a few thousand miles.

Otherwise could take it to the dealer and just let them check it out for peace of mind?

Yes, all is stock. Not planning to change the wheels or tires. I guess the leaf springs are worth looking into.
I'll also wait few K to see is it breaks in better.
I'll try the chalk test, though under-inflating the tires for the road will chew them up a lot faster.
Tx.
