Boy, I feel dumb. I decided to pull down on the hand/star nuts that are attached to the latch mechanism on the rails. "Click" It sits flush once I pull those. Now I am happy. :)

The RollX is a gigantic piece of junk. I am selling mine on craigslist it's so bad. It's OK if you just drive on the street, but once you hit the dirt and start actually hitting some bumps, it will unlatch itself and start flopping around. It doesn't have enough weight/rigidity back there to keep it latched like the BAKFlip variations do.

Every other feature of the RollX I absolutely love, but this does tend to aggravate me. I have been rolling mine up when I get out to desert but then all my shit gets dusty too. If mine was straight street queen I would go RollX. Now with offroad I would consider something like F1.

Hmm. Glad this came to light. Some of the other threads I don't recall anyone complaining about off roading with the roll-x.

For reference, here is the wrong position of the latch:

And here is the correct position:

I have to disagree that this cover is a "gigantic piece of junk." I will agree that it may not be right for you guys that do a lot of offloading and want to do that with the cover on, but that isn't my use case. I want to keep my groceries dry and the snow out. It is AWESOME for on-road duty.

Guys listen up. Ive been through this here:
http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f11/bak-roll-x-install-review-21509/index10.html

If youre having problems you probably have the older style rails and cover. Return that shit for the newer rails and cover. I have ZERO problems after i demanded a new cover.

Edit: I don't drive my truck like a bitch either. Bak has good customer too btw. If you bought through morrie talk to him and he‘ll make it right.

First I had to put downward force on the rails while tightening the clamps to make sure they were completely flush with the top of the truck bed. With that done, you just have to grab the star shaped knob on each latch and pull it down toward the bed until the latch clicks each time you close the cover from its open position.

I just bought mine a month or two ago and had the newer rails. I placed pressure on them to try and get them as low as possible. I adjusted the stops at the end and did everything to get it to stay latched off road. For an offroad truck, even only seeing occasional off-roading, it's junk. The BAKFlip G2 is cheaper and is more resilient and water resistant. The RollX is OK if you drive on pavement 100% of the time and will never get your offroad truck dirty. Otherwise, look at a different bed cover. You will be highly disappointed if you get this cover and hit the dirt with any frequency.

I went off road for the first time with then RollX and it popped open whenever I hit bumps hard. My RollX came with some shims for the side rails. I looked close and there is a fair amount of space between the edge of the top where it sits in the rail and the outside edge of the track in the rail. I'm going to try using shims to move the rails in a bit. I think this will give the latch more rail to hold onto.
