I feel your pain. I live and work right smack in the middle of the oil boom in North Dakota. One day I met 6 (SIX!) gravel trucks on the highway, none of which were covered like the law says they should be. It was super windy and each one peppered me with rocks. I'm shocked I didn't crack my windshield. I'm going to look into wrapping the front end of my truck. Do they make race red vinyl? I know you can get that clear military grade film applied. I saw a ton of little chips on my bumper the other day. It made me a sad panda.

I used ez liner in a spray paint to do all my light mounts plastics and it looks like a powder coat and hangs in well. I'm amazed. I'll be buying cans bulk and doing my grill hood , roof, retrax pro and tail gate in this liner at home. Easiest part is, if I scratch it off roading all I need is 1 can and it's brand new!,
I have line x premium on my fender flares and that started getting whiter a few months after the job, this ez liner on my light mounts held up like a boss

What's the texture like? Bed liner? Or closer to powercoat?

Pics?

Thanks, Netix. Can you say anything about the durability of the spray? How resilient it is to scuffs, scratches, chips, etc?

ill just paint the whole damn truck then why not. i got lightning shaped scratches all over from my hi lift jack hitting it.
I dont know but i used a 5k psi preasurewasher and got it up like a inch to the mount it was fine... its preety tough, the only question is time. How long will it hold up? Will it start tearing? Fading?
Worst case scenario add a fresh new coat and or use some paint sealent on top? the UV protective one?

It's breaking my heart driving this thing in the oil field. I bought it new back in march of 2011 and 30K miles later and most of that mileage is freeway or rig roads. The rig roads are a nightmare and the ******* 18 wheelers I have to share them with have destroyed my paint with rock chips.

I'm thinking of selling it in lieu of a 2013 cobra and a beater truck for the field

What do you guys think and what can I do to protect my truck?

Wrapping it is one option but I'm not sure that would hold any better and after its all done the rock chips are still there.

The other option is to do a full linex job over the whole truck. This is appealing but does anyone know what the truck will look like sitting in the elements and 100 degree heat year round? Will it fade or crack? I've seen this happen to the bed lining all the time.

You guys know this truck and the buyer perspective so what do you think?
I hate throwing more money at this ride but I paid 41K and have it half paid off already. I don't want to get my ass kicked trading it in but i feel like im destroying this nice truck. I'm not sure anynthing I do can save this truck from the daily beatings. Either I'm going to get out of it or drop 10k making it better.

Psss, it's a truck :mexsmoke:

I understand, I'm from West Texas and done my share of oilfield work. I have already replaced my windshield once a few months ago and just found a crack in the new one today!

^^ A...men to that bro! I was wondering where the $10k came from! Haha, yea....I'm thinking by 14', Obama will be out of office and the gas&oil will be back booming therefor ..... :) Be great to have an optional blown 5.8l. I'll consider that the Raptors ecoboost!

As for your ac issue, try this.....I noticed that the higher the fan speed (at least half speed), the cooler it starts blowing. Totally opposite on every past vehicle.

12' Race Red Raptor SCAB (Loaded to the max!)
SCABS are faster!!
08' SeaDoo RXP-X Clockin' 80+ GPS

I'll give that a try... Wonder if anyone is going to try and retrofit a 2013 cobra motor for the raptor. Heard lethal ran 9.77 with bolt ons. So maybe 13s in our truck ? Lol

It was $1400 for what I had done to mine, how high up are you planning on Line-X'ing?

Was thinking the whole damn truck minus the roof...
