I like to throw in an m12 inflator, gloves, and a tire plug kit. If it’s just a nail, a plug can get you rolling pretty quick.
I like this one. I also kept a spare quart of oil, basic hand tools etc. that’s plenty for a road trip.

As for the radar detector, save your money. Use WAZE, it gives you a 1/2 mile heads up on where the police is plus traffic.

Leave the family at home and take the trip yourself! It'll be a nice and quiet trip. keep your insanity in check!! that being said. I would get a better jack, the factory one is the shit. No use to have all the tools in the world but you have no parts to fix the problem. It's a new truck, enjoy the trip.

I always carry a AAA membership, basic tools, tow strap, tie downs, latex gloves, mechanic gloves and paper towels.

For road trips, I like bringing a quart of oil, distilled water, a 4 way lug wrench (makes it easier to remove the lugs for me) and a larger tool kit ( Craftsman ~100 mechanic tool kit)

My best investment for road trips was a hard bed cover (I like BAKFlip because it folds). It'll protect your stuff in the bed when you're not around. You don't have to worry about your stuff when you go to the gas station, food stops, stores and so on. This made my pit stops in the middle of nowhere a lot less stressful.

Waze won't help you on a rolling LEO. Valentine 1 always. LIDAR - you might get saved if in traffic, but most likely it will only let you know you have been tagged, too late to get legal. If tagged with LIDAR and your alone, just pull over.

Took my 2014 SCAB from Norfolk VA to Yellowstone to Seattle and back with 70K miles on it. Never missed a lick and was a joy to drive. Its got 157K on it now and plan on going to Highway one as soon as COVIA relents some.

AMMO /w firearms - be very aware of the current state laws. Many changed after 1 Jan.
