Not to be a Debbie downer but would it have been easier to take recon tails and gut those and just put better more reliable hardware and then seal them properly? I know a lot of people buy them based of on looks even though they know the horror story with hyper flash and condensation etc... I would love to see a retro fitted recon ;)

Have not had the chance to take one apart but just by looking at it, it doesn't seem to have a nice canvas you could say to work with. I can do so many things with the stock light it's just the LED strips that I get are a fortune.
Recon lights have barely any led's in there but I think there problem is the device they use to control the hyper flash is what keeps failing and causing problems. This is the main thing that I need to figure out with any lights I retrofit. Hopefully I'll be able to start this soon as the weather is finally starting to warm up.

Not trying to be an ass here whatsoever so please don't take it like that-But why is it so hard to make 09+ F-150 LED tails?

Ford has the turn signals controlled by the computer now so you can't just swap out the relay for an LED one.
Now you have to either install a load resistor but even that's not working with the later models in some cases. Tolerances are so tight as to what works and what doesn't.
