Replaced phasers twice now blown motor ?

Just spoke with the ford rep, they do require me to give authorization and to assume responsibility for the cost of tear down.

I'm going to try to get the extended warranty to cover it. Otherwise if I pay $1850 to tear it down & ford doesn’t take responsibility then im out
$1850 for the tear down &
$1800 for the warranty. Risking $1850 to save $1800 doesn’t make sense to me.

Plus I just read the extended warranty contract, they must be contacted prior to any work being done on the vehicle or the contract is voided & they do not cover tear downs.

& my driver heated seats and both power mirrors stopped working so I’ll have them do that too ‍♂️
Well, yeah, see if your warranty will cover the tear down too. Make sure you or your insurance company get the core credit for the engine, that slimy stealership might try to pull a fast one, ha ha. Keep us posted and good luck.

id have the warranty company cover it. give them all your info. they most likely will check into any allegations and evidence you have. They dont want to pay either and they have a lot more resources than most people do. who knows they have there own investigators and go after them. To me the warranty seems to be the best route with least amount of variables.

got the warranty company involved, they want to remove the oil pan to see if there’s any water/coolant in the oil. The dealership wants to charge me 1100 to remove an oil pan….. da faq anyways I gave them the okay to do it. So if the warranty denies the claim then I’ll talk to ford

W T F, $1100 , they are really the biggest rapers in your area, aren't they! I hope when this is all over, you service your baby somewhere else, lol.

Yeah that’s what I said, $1100 bucks to drop the damn oil pan… they said it takes 6 hours LOL. But ford sent me 1 of my car payment back which makes up for it plus couple hundred.

They inspected the oil and found cam shaft shavings in the oil. No signs of lack of maintenance. No water or coolant in the oil.
Plus the oil was changed just 500 miles ago….

The aftermarket warranty denied the claim due to “aftermarket parts”
Which is only intercooler/bumper/37’s/CAI
The service advisor said they’ll do the best they can to have them reconsider or have ford cover it.

I have a feeling ford will cover it since they have already sent me money, I’m sure they wouldn’t have if they were going to deny the claim.


Anyways, Merry Christmas everyone! I hope I can get the truck back soon so I can full send in the snow.

I picked up an older sequoia, got some shocks & springs to lift it 3 inches so I can do some off reading in big bear. Nothing compares to a raptor, this thing rides like a slammed rice box

SO, how would a cold air intake cause metal cam shavings, damn insurance companies will do anything to deny a claim. That is definitely not a raptor pictured, lol. Good luck on your adventure, hope the new year brings some good news.

The fact that the timing parts need to be replaced repeatedly on these engines under 100K miles is a major ******* issue.

Opening the front cover of an engine twice in less than 100K miles is not good for the general longevity of it. When you consider it's being opened by someone who's on the clock to get it done- your chances of long term success with that engine drops even more.

Upside is so many have failed that the techs will get good at the repair, and hopefully will learn how to avoid setting them up for failure when putting them back together.

Why do you even care? You don’t own one, you just like to stir the pot because of your Gen 1 bias.

There haven’t been repeat failures since the redesigned parts were released in October of 2019. That’s over 2 years ago. This post is one instance of a workmanship issue, yet you try and exaggerate it as if it’s a widespread occurrence.

14K is WAY too much for the motor and to swap it.

This is coming from someone that has replaced my stocker with a built motor.

also, for reference, a supercharged coyote swap into a raptor is 55K ( give or take a few grand. )
If you don’t mind sharing, what did you pay for your new motor setup? I’m thinking of going to RBM my self.
