That's a good idea with those tinted sheets. I like these but they are pricey for what they are. Couple guys on eBay have some which are $180 BIN with free shipping

$175 is a lot cheaper than $180? That's the only price I could find on amazon.

This is a cool mod, but I'm going to pursue a DIY solution first. If it doesn't work, then I might invest in the Recon version. I don't think $180-$200 is unreasonable for this, providing it wasn't up to the buyer to light proof the backside to prevent unwanted light leaks on the edges. For a commercially produced product, this seems like a pretty avoidable problem that should have been addressed in the prototyping. Yeah, it's easy to fix, but it really shouldn't have been an issue in the first place... Makes me a little leery.

On amazon for $7.29. Amazon.com: Rosco Cinegel N.9, 20" x 24" 0.6 Three Stop Neutral Density Lighting Filter: Camera & Photo

And
$9.14
Amazon.com: 06 ND Gel Sheet 210 (Neutral Density): Everything Else

I bought both just in case one was too dark but only used a corner of one roll.

But the DIY option is a cheaper way to go than buying recon's product and looks simple to do.

Any pics of your DIY install? Which gel sheet worked out better?

I forgot to take pics when I was doing it but its very simple. The LED is inside a clear case you can either try and pull the whole case out which was easier to do for one side. But the other one wouldn't come out for me. Or take a razor to the edges of the back to losses up their crapy seal job and take the back off gently cause it can and will break on you. Cut your sheet to fit and re seal it.

I used the darker sheet and it works great you cant see any white when it is off. And at night the amber light shine through great. You can not tell its on during the day time.

For those on the fence, I installed mine over the weekend. While the plastic is slightly glossier when put side by side, but once installed you won’t know. Like others I used a tint film to match the original look when off, really like it over the standard white. You could probably go w/ a lighter tint if you wanted it brighter. Here’s what I used… Lee 299 ND1 2 4 Stops Neutral Density Lighting Gel Filter Sheet 21"X24" | eBay

I already tapped the parking light LEDs for my HID Halo’s, so used that source again. While I pulled back the front of the fender for access, it might be easier to simply remove your headlights versus playing around under the wheel well. We'll see how long they last ;)
