2014, 48K miles.

The rear camera on occasion does not work. On one occasion recently the whole dash screen was black, but later the dash screen was fine again.

In ya'll's experience where is the issue usually located, the camera itself or elsewhere?

Yeah my 2014’s backup camera is pretty much completely useless at this point. Most of the time gives an empty black screen or a warning to take it in. Ford dealership wanted $1,000 to replace. I am having a much harder time parking than I once did :ROFLJest: IMO it’s the camera for sure maybe got pinched in the tailgate not sure.

Mine would only work intermittently. I checked the fuse and it was partially burnt. Replaced it and it worked fine after.

First the guidelines disappeared, then the rear camera worked intermittently, and then it failed altogether.
Dealer replacement cost (December 2019):
Camera assembly - $478.77
Ford name plate - $42.44
Labor - $240.00
TOTAL - $761.21

Yikes. 3 years later at about 15% inflation is $875.

I was going to suggest cleaning the connector and testing but sounds like you got it figured out....are you stock radio or aftermarket?

Looks like we are all experiencing the same thing. Replacing the camera seems to be the fix.

Did you decide on the fix? I haven't looked into anything aftermarket on this, my camera works but curious to which way you go on this.
