I know the same 10 speed thats in the new Camero shifts up and down just as fast if not faster than Porsche's PDK gearbox. Of coarse the programming and ratios will be different in the Raptor but at least we know its capable of being lightening quick.

Some quotes:

“There is simply nothing like the experience offered with the new 10-speed automatic in the Camaro ZL1,” said Aaron Link, ZL1 lead development engineer. “It delivers nearly instantaneous, lightning-fast shifts that alter your perception of what an automatic transmission can offer in a high-performance vehicle – whether you’re on the street, drag strip or road course.”

Chevrolet testing has shown the ZL1 with the available 10-speed has faster shift times than the Porsche PDK dual-clutch transmission. In fact, the 1-2 upshift is 36-percent quicker than the PDK, while the 2-3 and 3-4 upshifts are 27-percent and 26-percent quicker, respectively.

“You touch the paddle and the gear changes with immediacy,” said Link. “The shifts happen so quickly and without delay that it almost feels like an extension of your reflexes. It’s a much more involving experience for the driver that really helps improve confidence and performance on the track.”

Hundreds of hours were spent integrating the 10-speed’s shift performance with the unique power band of the ZL1’s supercharged 6.2L LT4 engine, which is estimated at 640 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque.

Maybe I'm incorrect but isn't the crisp shifts the opposite of what you want in the raptor? Last gen has more longer transitions to give it more control in unsettled ground.

You dont want your transmission sitting between gears for extended periods of time especially under hard load, it creates added heat and wear. With 10 speeds and fast shifts itll keep the motor in the sweet spot for power which is exactly what you want especially with a turbo motor.

That would make it a 9 speed. I'm 99% sure its 6 underdrive gears, one direct drive gear (1:1), and 3 overdrive gears.

Well yes. I meant it as:
3 OD gears
1 reverse
6 regular gears
So 10 total. I don't do gearing. So I just call them what they are in my head.

There are 6 underdrive ratios, one direct drive ratio, and 3 overdrive ratios.

Reverse gear is not counted. You could call it 11 speeds if you want.

A 2 speed powerglide was two forward gears plus reverse. Lexus' 8 speed is 8 forward gears and a reverse. This is the industry norm.

I would be pleasantly surprised if the paddle shifts up and down were super crisp on the new transmission.

New Corvette was supposed to be faster than PDK but that turned out to be bunk. Sure the automatic slushed super quick near redline, but you couldn't count on clicking the paddle and getting an immediate shift anywhere else.

Thanks for posting this! Where did it come from? It kind of sucks that you need to load up on every option to get the Torsen front LSD, but it looks like that's what I'll do. Hopefully the Torsen can be had without the giant Ford emblem on the tailgate and also without the sunroof.
