I am curious about redoing the factory speaker pins in the front door molex with new wire. I found the pins at digi-key that would allow me to re do the harness.

Looking for input from those who have repinned the factory Molex connections in the front doors.

I know I could drill a hole in the molex and route through that but I want to entertain a more refined solution for my Raptor. And I thought it would be that much cooler to upgrade the factory wire original pathway than simply drill my way into the door....

I was thinking you should be able to re-pin the factory harness with a better gauge aftermarket (16 or 14 awg) wire from my speakers crossovers to the 6.5" K2 Focals in the door and not need to drill holes in the Molex.

Currently I am using the factory speaker wire spliced in to the factory wires down by the kick panel to go from the focal crossover to the 6.5 in the door.

Let me know what you think?

I had Noah @thecarstereocompany help me with my install. He said he doesnt replace the factory speaker wires, just ties into the factory wires after the amp to a processor, amp(s) and back through the factory wires to the speakers, except for the subs. And he does some high end installs in Raptors. While I'm an old fart and dont crank my system up to ear bleed levels very often, my system cranks! And I am running some decent power. Not sure its noticeable or really worth the effort/PITA, but thats just my opinion.

theres no reason to repin the wires. the oem wire is plenty suffecient for most people. what amp are you going to use to drive the speakers? i have 2 mosconi as200.4 amplifiers one 4 channel amp drives the front stage so im running 200 watts to the door woofer. being a class a/b amplifier, the amp is capable of putting out more than 200 watts per channel. speaker signal is a/c current therefore does not require as heavy a guage as d/c current. put it this way, your dryer to dry your clothes runs off 14ga wire on a/c. it uses d/c current once power has reached the unit but the ac power at you circuit breaker is probably 30-40amps. since speaker signal run on a/c there really isnt a need for a wire upgrade. subwoofers on the other hand do require heavier wire since the drivers now days are capable of so much power. true 18ga wire will overheat at about 22amps of current. now 22 amps of d/c current isnt much, but 22 amps of a/c current is quite a bit
