I've been looking around these forums for a while now, and i am very interested in the raptor, but my father says it isn't a very practical car and he thinks i should buy the grand Cherokee with the hemi. What do you guys think? have you ever had any day to day problems with the raptor? it will be my daily driver. Thank you so much

Tell your Dad that the Raptor is not a car, it is a Truck!
And having switched from a hot hemi jeep to a Raptor, I can tell you that the Raptor is much more practical.

And what is not practical of a scab with over 3 metric tons of pulling power and a truckbed ( read no high limit on what ever u load)
4x4 capale offroad monster

Its practical and fun
Instead practical boring and a 4x4 version of a mommy-mobiel

All respect to you're dad
But ask him if he ever was young ? Or experienced a midlive crysis .
If not, take him out to the desert . And make him feel young again and let him life a little when you have you're raptor

Factory payload rating is only 1,000 lbs or so for Raptors. It might take awhile getting used to how wide the Raptor is. But it's very good for a dd, especially in bad weather.

Check the resale value of the two models.

Let me speak from experience.

1. Hemi sucks gas almost as bad as the Raptor.

2. Unless things have changed since 2012 all Hemi and Jeep vehicles require you to change coolant, tranny, and diff fluid every 30 K miles for a grand total of $1,300.00 each and every time.

Enough for me to switch!!!:perkinswhatever:

My last two vehicles were Hemi's
Magnum R/T w/ the 5.9 & Jeep SRT with the 6.1L I had never had any problems with any of them, but if i were you I would get the Raptor and never look back.

I previously owned a 2012 Grand Cherokee. While I do wish I could own both the Jeep and the Raptor, the Raptor is the better choice imo.

Raptor:
-Far better offroad capability
-Better resale value
-Gets about the same MPG as the hemi while weighing 1200 or so lbs more.
-Performance is far better. While the Jeep has good power with the hemi, it's very sluggish compared to the Raptor.
-More Cargo room

Jeep
-Easier to park
-Very smooth DD. It handles more like a car.

Best I could average in the Jeep was around 14-15 MPG. Which I was really disappointed with. Granted I did upsize my tires an inch over stock but to get 14 MPG with 32" tires when my last F150 got 18mpg with 33's and 12 with 37's and weighs at least 1000 lbs more. Jeep may have improved this with the new 8 speed transmission.
