Thanks for all best wishes ... and Ideas

Yep! I guess now is the time to get the new bumper, It's probably about the same price as an OEM one!
I had the projector headlights for about a year, but I had just had the 3M protective clear vinyl added, not that it did any good :laughing1:

Glad you are ok. The suggestion to upgrade the bumper is a good one as there is not a big cost difference between stock and aftermarket.

I removed the pic of the deer. Posting pics of messed up animals is not a place we would like to go.

If there are no sensors, how come the airbags deployed?

So... does anyone have experience in getting raptor parts?
There is an SVT Ford dealer in Ottawa, that's about 100k from me.

On most cars airbags deploy because there are sensors built into the bumper or right behind the bumper (front and rear). When these sensors get hit, the airbags would deploy. Manufacturers quickly realized that a minor accident (i.e. at 5 mph) could deploy the airbags. The deployment of the airbags can do a lot of damage. In some cars the airbag in the steering wheel and driver side dash can actually crack the windshield.

Also these traditional sensors are a pain in the A S S to work around. Often you would have to disconnect the battery to deactivate these sensors.

The Raptor do have sensors but they work as accelerometers. As in decelerate quickly (as in hitting a stationary object) and the airbags will deploy.

So in your case, if you had an opportunity to brake before hitting the deer, then perhaps your airbags would have not deployed.

When I busted my bumper earlier this year insurance quoted me $950 for the bumper + an additional $200 for labor. This did not include skid plate or plastic trim piece above the bumper and below the grill. Sorry about the accident, but make it work for you.

Looks like the lines between the hood and fenders are off. That could be a bigger deal than anticipated.

In addition to good aftermarket bumpers, I'm going to need an effective dear whistle - to warn my wife of oncoming mods

Please keep us updated on the cost. I am going to guess that it will be in 6-9K range. Not sure how many airbags deployed but they will be expensive to replace.
