At this point it wouldn't surprise me if Ford corporate sent them straight Mecum auto auction or something to get top dollar with $150,000 reserve because "capitalism" and "it's as simple as supply v demand" as I'm reminded so often on this forum.

By base we I mean, engine, seats, steering wheel and regular Gen 3 wheels. No doors or AC.

That won't happen. In a million years. You couldn't even get 37s on your '21 without paying for lots of expensive fluff.

Everything can be purchased for cash, but not every item is purchased based on cost value. In terms of utility, a Rolex and a Casio both tell time, but the price is vastly different. The Rolex costs more because it's a luxury status symbol.



Well, sure. If you take it to ridiculous extremes, than no one will pay that. There is 0 chance the R is going to cost $750k MSRP. The range is somewhere between 80-110k, approximately, and I bet a ton of potential buyers don't care either way as it's near pocket change to them.



The Raptor R is not a rusted bolt. That's my point. You can't compare objects which are effectively commodities to luxury items that people only buy with disposable income.



I paid $60k. I bought used around 2.5 years ago when Raptors were easily found on dealerships. I probably would have bought new around 72 if I hadn't found a good deal on a slightly used. Sure, I would get the best deal I could get, but a few thousand here or there wasn't going to drop me out of the market.

But I don't care what the R cost, other than curiosity, as it's well out of the range I can justify for spending on a vehicle. But I bet there are a ton of people who don't care whether it cost 80 or 110k.



Of course. But that 'nope' point is very very high, beyond what the Raptor will realistically cost, for a lot of people. The same people who say they don't care about gas mileage (and that you shouldn't buy a Raptor if you do).



I'm saying that most of the people who are looking at $100k trucks are not going to be too worried about $10k more or less. Not everyone, sure, but certainly enough people to buy Rs.

You went through a lot of quoting there.

Here's how I sum it up.

Everyone has a stopping point. If said....

Would you pay "$80,000 for a Raptor R?"

Most would say yes.

Then if I said $81,000? 82,000? 83,000? 84,000? and so on and so on up to $1,000,000 or $2,000,0000 or but I did it $500 or $1000 at time ... at some point.... everyone would say "no"---everyone. Evvvvvvvvveryone.

Then, when they said "no" I would just say "You're gonna let a measly $1,000 be the difference in you getting a Raptor - R?"

And THAT is the original argument that CornonaRaptor made. He said "if you care how much it is, you won't be able to afford one" --he has since indicated that he wasn't exactly serious with that quote...but you're still defending THAT quote.

So you DISAGREE that everyone has a stopping point. Hmm. Interesting take. We will have to agree to disagree.

This is why I eventually wore out my patience on:
1) if/when the truck will actually be available
2) how attainable (availability) it will be
3) pricing

Pulled the trigger on a known, which is a ‘22 TRX (going from a 2013 Gen 1 Roush Raptor) which I got the mid-level package and 10k off MSRP.

77k, + TT&L and done with it. If, when the R becomes available, if it is accessible and ballpark with the TRX, I’ll likely sell the TRX and move to the R, but I’m not holding my breath.

Wait what…… GT status for an “R”? I will honestly admit I have zero inside sources; however, a $200k Gen3 Raptor with a V8 would alienate just about everyone in this board. I don’t think pulling Carroll out of the ground and signing each dashboard would get you a $200k rig….

I’ve heard very limited and very expensive ……..200k hope I’m wrong but going into GT owner status
