I don't require full-time AWD in a vehicle, but I want at least selectable 4A on any vehicle I own. To me it's a safety feature. Whenever it's slippery in any way (rain, storm, snow) I turn on 4A and can be confident I'm staying planted as long as I don't act a fool. Hell, I've tried flooring it from a rolling start in 4A on wet pavement, and couldn't get the Raptor to spin. So I absolutely want 4A in a 4WD vehicle that I intend to DD.

Count me out on an AWD Raptor. Flinging it around corners in RWD is where the fun is. And don't forget that most serious baja trucks are 2WD...

I find it funny how a lot of owners on this forum trash the idea of a 4wd “R” and keep saying count me out.

You guys will be the first in line to get an all time 4wd v8 raptor. You guys can say all you want but at the end of the day your buying it anyway. And if your not someone else will be, including myself. Don’t really care if it is. I actually prefer it.

Oh, I'm already in line to buy it sight unseen. I'm just saying that if I had my preference, I'd go with part-time 4WD and run it in 4A most of the time.

Same here, though I do leave it in RWD in all but the most extreme (snow) circumstances just for the fun and challenge of it.

You can put it in Baja mode, 2WD, nannies off if you want more challenge. I haven't tried that yet. Maybe this winter if we get the right conditions when I've got the time to find a big empty parking lot. Even nannies "off" isn't, if I understand correctly. It would be fun to see the difference. I agree that 2WD normal mode is so well behaved in the snow that 4A or 4H is almost never needed. My last two trucks have been hard to get sideways in the snow in 2WD without being actively stupid. It's kinda bad in a way, since I get complacent and when the turds hit the ventilator I'm going to be caught flat-footed and will probably end up in a ditch.

Can you believe that we're seven pages into a thread based on idle speculation sparked by what a different maker did on their truck? Who started with a blank sheet of paper. Something that would reduce the functionality of the truck to less than the V6 model? And would reduce the fun factor of their flagship fun truck?

Nobody is trashing the idea of a 4wd raptor R, but if it comes with only 4A why the hell would you spend all that money for something you cant enjoy. Again read OP's question. And it WONT HAPPEN!!

Baja mode in 2WD is cool when you want to drive it like you stole it, but with my stage 2 Goosetune I leave it in normal mode 99% of the time. The complete opposite of what I did when it was stock. I don’t like how long it hangs on to gears in sport mode in anything resembling normal driving.
