Llumar matte film.

What are you getting done at add?

- Venom R front bumper with dual BD light bars
- Honey Badger rear bumper with 10" BD lights
- Foutz skid plate

They're also installing for me:

- SVC adjustable collars
- Decked system
- Pro eagle jack mount powder coating and fasten to Decked.

Never had to use mine but it’s nice to have up in Escalate/Grand Staircase in the off-season. Not a lot of people out there, you don’t have to have someone sitting on the other end of the radio and you can take it with you for hiking, exploring slot canyons.

You’re going to love it out there, spent two years in my GEN 1 exploring Moab, Kanab and Torrey from SLC.

Thank you.

I actually ended up buying one of these instead of the Spot: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/561269

I have a love/hate relationship with spot. First off, Spot can be very, very persnickety about locking a GPS signal and if it doesn’t get a lock at start up, it never does - that is, it perpetually remains in the “acquiring gps” state and never reports in. On the older units at least, there is no indication that it hasn’t secured a gps signal ! I found this out in Germany, opened a support case and it was not brilliant. After numerous emails back and forth, it was basically working as designed. I had to sign into the web portal and ensure I got the little waypoint icons on the web before taking off.

Newer ones seem to have a better gps acquisition but can still be interfered with by trees - and I’m talking light tree cover like you have in the ‘burbs, NOT some forest or deep woods. At least they indicate you got a failed gps lock on the newer units. If you pay attention.

Now, in completely open terrain, you’re golden - it takes about the same time to get a gps lock as a 2008 - 2012 era gps - maybe 30-90 seconds.

Assuming you have the GPS lock, I can say that the emergency notification works. I had to send out a help request in Italy once and my peeps got notified. So I don’t want to be Debbie Downer on the Spot entirely, just know it’s got limitations and quirks. You can workaround the quirks.

HTH.
