I'm not sure what a 'skid plate jack' is so would you mind linking me to the one you're referring to please?

Really? LMGTFY

If you're going to use a Hi-Lift jack with your Raptor make sure (1) your life insurance and (2) medical insurance are paid and (3) you have at least one other vehicle with you and they have blankets (and a first aid kit) in their truck so you don't bleed all over it on your way to the hospital which is likely miles and miles away.

Seriously - if your best idea is to use a Hi-Lift jack to change your Raptor's tire you may want to think twice about going off road.

You’re a very special boy.

This is the go to. The base is much larger than a hi lift providing greater stability. The bottom of the jack has a skid plate for use on soft surfaces. The jack lifts higher than a normal jack and comes with an extension so you can get more lift on uneven surfaces for vehicles with more travel.

Thanks for your help.

Is two tons enough for our trucks?

Do you want to lift the entire truck off the road or just a corner?

Assuming the Raptor weighs 6,000 pounds (that's 3 tons) and your jack lifts 2 tons (that's 4,000 pounds), do you think that's enough capacity?

Coming from personal experience and not a picture or a video on the internet, I’ve never been in a situation I thought it was a good idea to use my highlift. So much so I sold it five years ago.

I think they look neat and can do a bunch of shit. But if you have a winch and a good skid jack they are useless imo.

From what I have seen it seems like a pretty standard way to use this jack.

What would you recommend instead for off road situations?
No it is not a 'standard' way. Hi lifts are only useful when you have rock sliders on the side and bumpers front and back. Rock sliders and aftermarket off road bumpers are rated to withstand the load and lift the truck up. No stock component in our truck is rated for that.
