Hey Outcast, how accessible is this old steam boat? And is it near I-20? I'm actually on the road now headed to Florida. I'm not sure I'll have time or if my wife's Buick Enclave (AWD) can make it but I figured I would ask anyhow. We're hanging out in Dallas today and want pull until Sunday. Thanks.

Its 15.4 miles south of Viadalia La off of LA-131 that turns into LA-15. Stay on the river road and there will be a boat landing and some camps over the top of the levee and a sign that reads Deer Park. You top the levee and it will be to your right.

Thanks! If I get a chance I'm going try and see it.

SVO... hit me up on the way (or the way back)...

We actually spent the night in Abeline. The wife got tired and so we got something to eat and a room. It was some what late or I would have pm'd you. Anyhow, I'll hit you up on the way back.

Now that is the kind of stuff that you just can't appreciate fully unless your right there looking at it. that thing looks pretty big, and the history behind that paddle wheeler would be pretty interesting. I wonder where all it has been and seen? Now that in itself is fascinating. Thanks so much for sharing this with all of us, further more thinking to even take the pics in the first place. Great Find!!!!!!!!

Man, that's too cool. That's the kind of exploration I love. Man, I think I would have boarded her with a flashlight and checked her out. I bet there's a lot of stories inside that old thing! Looking forward to seeing more pics!

Very cool find Jimbo! "Stumbling" over something like a rear paddle wheel driven boat is certainly surprising and fun.

I suspect it's not quite as old as the Civil War era but it could be. You obviously didn't see any name on the boat, right?

Maybe you can do some investigation and find out more about it. That'd be cool.

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip in your Raptor.
