Hey Guys,
I'am a member as well, I haven't done any of the events yet due to the same reason... lack of install of radio and GPS. Maybe we can get a group deal going? I'am sure if we got 5-10 people interested, one of the vendors would be interested in a group buy?

Maybe we could make a saturday of it since it seems like most of us are in the socal area... Maybe some of the the club guys at RE can help us install it ourselves, do a club meeting at outlaw or somewhere?

Lets get a head count, who would be down for a group buy with a GPS, Radio combo install?

Talk to Noah at The car stereo company a vendor on here >>>>>>>>>>>>>

I can do the programming and if needed can help a group do installs on a Saturday. I have most of the wire etc. here and I am familiar with why and why not of installations and things to look for before installation.. If those that choose to want to buy as a group I can also help with that I don't know how busy Noah is right now.. Another good source besides on this forum is Ham Radio outlet (HRO) and I also recommend picking up a license should you buy a radio.. They are cheap and the test is fairly easy..

I would come down from Vegas for that.
Been eyeballing the RE runs for a while now and looking to join the club.

I did the GPS and ICOM install myself. I use the internal antenna in my Lowrance Baja and I have a mag mount from freedom motorsports for the antenna on my ICOM. The radio is a huge help. The chatter is absolutely hilarious but when things get serious, its a huge help instead of making a phone call which can be dangerous. Once you are on the correct channel its as simple as picking up the mic or hitting a PTT button with a built in helmet mic and speaker.

When I snapped an axle at raptoberfest I got on locos mocos, radioed it in. In 10 minutes the course was diverted and there was a guide and another raptor to tow me and the guide helped us get back quicker. Not to mention using it to find food in Rockdale and talk to everyone and make jokes, rumors etc its very worth it.

Onto the GPS, its a huge help. Especially with me since I explore a lot of the management area trails here in Alabama. I have logged and saved over 300 miles of trails in Alabama and always got back on the road without getting lost. And trust me, exploring trails, you want to have some form of guide so you dont get lost.

I run the LGE CTS motorsports GPS mount. I don't recommend it. Its cool that it folds down when you need more visibility but it bounces around badly Offroad. It only attaches up by the center speaker rather than in front of the radio display and next to the center speaker.

Here are pics of my set-up, all installed myself.

If anyone needs install help let me know. The ICOM was a breeze. Shift to N, pop the very bottom panel off of the radio bezel (its right in front of the upfitter switch bezel) pull straight up and the whole bezel around the shifter comes up. Just disconnect the HDC and ORM buttons and the upfitter switches. Drill 4 holes. Use 4 nuts and bolts and attach the bracket. Then drill 2 hidden holes on the underside to hide run the wires. Simple
