off road you are feeding a 7 liter - that 7 liter has DI, etc... but I'm betting it's a wash gen 1 to jen 2.

The SDHQ EcoRaptor got 16mpg combined (4.88s/37s) driving like we all drive and Serena posted she could get 18 driving like, well a girl.

There should be some gains based on reduced weight and the new 10spd but I doubt seriously they will be Earth shattering.

Lifted eco's on 35s get 14-17mpg combined (depending on driving style, cab configuration, etc...). If you keep it stock, I would think 18-20 on the highway should be achievable if you keep it under 80. Once you start adding suspension mods and larger tires, chase racks, bumpers, etc... you'll be back in Gen 1 territory WRT mpgs.

I say who gives a shit. If I can throw a $500 tuner at it and come away with ~500hp/~600tq, I don't care if it run's on the tears of baby seals - I'm in.

you're likely right the v8 @ 410 maxhp could be using less fuel than V6TT @ 450hp maxhp (with significant bump in average hp across the rpm band)

also if the torque kicks in earlier you can run a tighter converter too.

Less than a tank to get to Washington every year from NorCal, I'm sold. People getting 14 mpg in the last gen is what made me pass.

6.2L of old school tech in a less than aerodynamic truck with over 400HP running a pretty low final gear with 35" tires. 14mpg wasn't bad considering Ecoboost trucks similarly equipped barely get anything better than that.

Is anyone really buying this truck for fuel economy - I couldn't care less what the final numbers are - 10/12 - I'm still buying.

Good fuel economy is a bonus, thats it. No one is buying a full sized truck for fuel economy but every added mpg = money not spent on gas = money spent on other fun things.

i used to think it was common sense. how many ppl buy a $60k pickup truck strictly as a trophy truck/hotrod?

for me..
daily driver
truck to go hunting with the dog
offroad
hotrod
family car
road trips
homedepot
grabbing free firewood off the side of the road

don't think better MPG would make anyone sad

Any Idea On MPG

Super excited about this truck. I sold my 2011 scab last year because 10mpg city was getting old really fast. Any guesses on mpg with the v6 tt?
I'd love to see 15/21
