I am giving up on Invoice + $1k deals for the year. Wait begins for the hype to settle down.

My dealer took my order and downpayment last Thursday. We agreed on MSRP. He stated that the system wasn't ready to input the orders at that time and would order it as soon as he could. He called me this morning and said "Sorry, we were only allocated 5 trucks and you were #7 on the list, I will refund your money."
This is BS. Screw Ford.

Blame Mike Levine. He's the one getting the hype machine going when Ford hasn't released any info. All you guys are taking internet rumors as gospel when no one at Ford knows anything then getting mad at Ford. Sounds logical...

Mike Levine is Ford's spokesman. Ford released on the internet that they are ready to take orders. I'll say it again. Screw Ford.

Ford should just put the Raptor on Build and Price. Still make special offers available on it as well.

I was hoping they would do the same for the Raptor

My local Ford dealer (Canada) told me that Ford is very strict with them about charging over MSRP limited availability product or not. He told me dealers break Ford rules by doing so. Honestly, the best thing would be to make Raptors available for order at all Ford dealerships big or small. Both types of dealerships should have to get in line without giving exclusive allocation to larger dealerships. Limited products sell themselves and the small dealerships could really use that help. Large dealers have an easy time selling products anyways, so why does Ford choose them for special treatment. Seems so unfair and monopolistic...just a tool for parting fools from their hard earned money.

The local dealer has $10k markup on a Focus RS, and two GT350s one marked up $30k and the other $40k

Wtf

hundreds of millions of dollars invested for positive brand recognition and ******** up the step that has the greatest influence, direct customer contact, so the dealer can pocket $10k. These manufacterers need to WAKE UP

The two dealers I spoke with both told me that what's on the Internet isn't true. Thanks for proving them and me right.

Didn't your mom ever tell you not to believe what you read on the Internet?

If no one pays $10,000 ADM then the dealers won't charge it. I sell things for a living and I always charge the most I can, depending on the market. Why should the manufacturers dictate what the dealers charge? MSRP - Manufacturers SUGGESTED Retail Price. If you don't like the game, don't play it. You can get a 2016 F150 for $10,000 below sticker here soon. I sure don't see anyone saying "man the dealer is really losing their ass on that one, I'll pay invoice so they can make a bit more." A lot more cars are sold for just the holdback than they sell with ADM. It's a business and they have to make money like everyone else.

the difference here is the manufacturers cannot sell directly to their customers by law. the dealers are exploiting that luxury and the customer.

The dealer is not a retail store, they aren't bestbuy, they are percieved as an extension of corporate. FORD is broadcasted across their storefront...they represent the manufacturer, and they have to be held accountable for the impacts they cause.

there are plenty of pricing models in the world that limits pricing (high or low) that are set by the manufacturer.

its price gouging, and many do not see it as ethical practice

So they should just sell for MSRP and not discount or add markup? So how do they compete with other dealers? There is no point in paying sales staff if everyone sells the same vehicles at the same price. There is no need for dealers then. Change the laws and we can order online from Ford and cut all the cost out what the dealers charge.

It's all about competition in a free market. Setting pricing is ****** ********. The market dictates the pricing.

market does dictate pricing and that is analyzed and set by the manufacturer. price gougings is price gouging, if its ****** or not, people dont like it, why should the manufacturer suffer?
there are models to achieve what you're looking for and not have a ****** state, as you say. If its a new car from an AUTOMALL thats fine, ADM everything and anything. when you have FORD on your storefront, its FORD's brand, and they have a right to control and protect it.

I know GM has already taken steps to stop "ADM" basically using MSRP as the upper limit. i did not just dream up this concept, some already see the damage it can do to their brand.
