What I'd like is to be able to press something on the FOB and have the truck keep running when I pull out my key.

I used to do that in my diesel F-250 when I went into Starbucks early am to grab a coffee, but didn't want to shut the truck off due to turbo cooling, etc. Here's what you do:

1.) Open the door, but leave key in ignition and running.
2.) Lock the door as you get out.
3.) Use the keypad access on the driver's side door upon returning.
4.) Drive away

See? It can be done!

Doesn't work that way^^^ you have to hold the last 2 buttons on the key pad once you get out and shut the door. It will not lock the doors from the inside or with the door open. Or if you have a 10' like mine with the factory remote start it is a different flob and if hold the remote start botton with the truck running it will beep and stay running after you take the key out.

But yea I think the op was talking about the set up like a beemer, my woman's SHO does have that and I must say it is nice!!! The key just stays in the glovebox and we just use the keypad to get in and out and lock and unlock. It is nice cause I never need to get her keys to take out the race car. She hates when I take it because her MPG drops like 2 MPG!! Haha

Oh yeah, I forgot about pushing the last 2 buttons to lock it. Good point. It's been many, many years since the diesel truck. Back when diesel was $0.50/gallon cheaper than 87 octane.
Great tip about pressing the start and then taking the key out. I didn't read that in the manual, but I'll check into it.
THANKS, Crikk!
