Raptor broken into- alarm never sounded

I want an aftermarket alarm system but I don't want someone chopping up my harness with those damn 3M scotch-lok connectors. I assume the Ford upgraded security package is a total joke.

I have found that the factory alarm does not arm if you lock the doors with the lock button on the door. It only arms when you use the keyfob to lock the door.

Interesting, I'll have to check this out.

Thanks everyone. What great feedback. I'll look at my options when I return from vacation on Monday. I like the idea of the shocking door handle, my kids suggested that as well! As someone said, illegal. Lol. The led lights are a definite as a deterrent and I will go from there. We have full insurance, $1000 deductable. Didn't bother to make claim. Was $450 to replace door handle and lock at dealer, already done!

I checked this am. I could not make the alarm sound using either the key fob or the door pad. I have made it sound in the past , so not sure what the issue is.

A pager alarm and an X26 is even better than a electric door handle lol.

alarm systems dont have a glass breakage sensor. its only available in the aftermarket world as an add on to an aftermarket system

While I do not have a glassbreak sensor, the shock sensor on the Ford Vehicle Security System add-on module would likely set the alarm off if a window is broken. I have set it off on myself when washing the truck if one of the windshield wipers gets knocked down onto the windshield.

the only problem is that the shock sensor is probably too sensitive at that point. also, i can break a window on a vehicle with less force than needed to set off a shock sensor. the shock sensor is designed to detect impacts to the body and frame, not so much the glass. the glass sensor is a microphone that picks up the sound frequency of breaking glass and will be the most reliable part.

Agreed. Didn't mean to question your expertise, Oh Wise and Noble Commander of Electrons.

No doubt there are better options with aftermarket alarms. Only downside with aftermarket for me, real or imagined, is that once you put an aftermarket alarm on, some dealers will blame any future electrical problem on this and deny warranty coverage. Even then, I still wish I had a proximity sensor.

FWIW, I have the VSS shock sensor cranked all the way up and have yet to have a false alarm, at least by someone else.
