Is that a super raptor taking flight in the background...?

How did the avalanche look in person? That is avalanche correct?

It is Avalanche. I ordered Magnetic just to go darker...but the Avalanche was very sweet looking.

man i am in satx and now considering to drive out there to see it in person lol

Ha! I hear ya. It was the hottest day of the month for fair day at my daughter's school. I went just to see it in person...afterwards I was ready to go, so we made a deal...petting zoo, 3 rides, cotton candy then we are outta there!

I am glad that I saw it in person though. At the truck zone parked up on the grass...every truck feels smaller than it is and I was use to that. The raptor felt a bit smaller than I was expecting though. They wont let you get in, but I found a rep to at least unlock the door and let me stick my head in.

The worst part was that Nissan had the off-road course set up off of 2nd. I just couldn't convince the Ford rep to let me take the raptor over there. :disgust:

The Raptor sticker looks smaller on the one at the fair compared to what I have seen from other pictures online?

I wasn't running the Gen 2 sticker down. If you look at the picture at the fair then look at the one on the online configurator they are different. The only on Ford's configurator have Raptor and carry a black ground that appears longer.

I really don't want to pile on, but I'm starting to agree. While it IS the nicest looking 2015+ F150 yet, by far- it's just not- uh, something is just not there for me.

OK- It's like they took the 2015 truck and said OK, now make one that looks like a Raptor. So it got the baja style front bumper, wider fenders, and a grille that says Ford. I dunno, it's nice as hell and I'd drive it, but it's just not like it was looks wise. It's hard to put it into words.

Gen 1 looks like it'll eat your baby- Gen 2 looks like a 2015 with some bigger tires and a different grille.

Wait- I've figured it out! Where they lost "the look" is the Gen 1 has the rounded fenders up front and on the bedsides. Gen 2 they flared the fender out way up high and it has the flat sided "normal truck" look. No coke bottle shape anymore, no fat hips, no nice curves- that's the problem with it visually. Oddly enough, the fender change likely makes it more functional though, since it's wider higher up in the fender.

yep.. hard to put into words but this captures the basic thinking for some. Gen2 is a great looking truck on it's own and mine is on order but the Gen1 looks like it wants to eat your production F150, haha. In some ways Gen1 has some dated features but from an individual perspective, it was ahead of it's time in design for that generation F150. Gen2 is a boost from the new F150 but the gap is much smaller, imho.

You said it. Also what the deal with all aluminum body and the issues and cost of repairs? $60 an hour from metal to $120 to aluminum. Any repair doubles in cost. And the infamous chevy commercial with the aluminum ripping under hard hit?

All I can say is get ready, because most will be using it soon enough - so hopefully those costs will come down.
I have read plenty of more than speculation that chevy will be doing it soon as well on their trucks. The upside is I can finally stop seeing the shrimp of a man, receding hairline, metro-******, jamming tool boxes and dumping stones in the bed of the two trucks with a bunch of dooshers standing around deducing what just occurred. :win:

Of course, carbon-fiber could become even cheaper, but not likely cheaper than aluminium.

Cabs look the same...and thats half the truck :hidesbehindsofa:

I believe the cabs ARE the same. So while a very valid point, thats where any similarities end.

I will say the SD's are very impressive in person. I think these trucks are a bit like vipers. The photograph just okay unless you get the angles right (and very few people do), but in person damn they are sweet.
