Have you booked a place in Columbus yet? The Short North is a pretty awesome spot for bars/restaurants/hotels. They're building a new hotel called the Hyatt House on 5th Avenue that should be open for games and would be about a mile walk from the stadium. We tailgate for every game in the RV lot if you're looking to share some beverages! Go Bucks!

Assault is kind of isolated so other than video games in the hotel room not sure on things to do while at the class. I stayed north of the school about 15 - 20 minuets away, there are nicer hotels outside of Toole. There isn't much public access to fishing off I-70 if you want to get some good trout fishing you can take Hwy 40 north to Granby and Hot Sulphur Springs and fish the headwaters of the Colorado or head up Hwy 9 out of Silverthorne and fish the Blue River. If you go to Hwy 40 there is an awesome dirt road outside of Kremling called Through Road that will continue to give you access to the Colorado and hooks you up with Hwy 131 where you can go south to link back up with I-70. From the Colorado state line to SLC is high desert Brother and no real fishing opportunities. The road from Cisco to Moab (Utah Hwy 128) is a spectacular drive through the Fisher Tower area and worth the 1 - 1-1/2 detour for sure plus driving close to Moab with a Raptor and not checking it out should be a crime. Sounds like an awesome trip - Enjoy!!!!!!

So I have finally booked my place at Raptor Assault October 4-5. I am taking my 11 year old boy with me for quite the adventure. First stop is in Columbus, Ohio to attend an OSU football game. Then fly early the next morning to Denver to attend a Broncos game. Then attend the Rockies last home stand of the year versus the Nationals. During the 12 days there we are planning to fish our way across Colorado and Utah. So I have a few question since I have been AWOL for a spell.

1) Current hotel recommendations?
2) Fishing recommendations?
3) Is there anything for my boy to do while I am at Assault?
4) What is the closest hotel to RA?
5) Anything else I should know?

BTW, your guest cannot attend the driving day, and there is a 14yr limit on the reception. I would call them up, they are nice and will answer more questions.

1) I70 Denver west may be a more scenic drive with trout fishing near Glenwood Springs and south on Hwy 82 towards Basalt/ Aspen.

2) I would not stay in Tooele more than two days, not much going on there.

Sounds like a fun trip for you and your 14 yr old son (a little small for his age ).

I’m sure you will enjoy the Prius course!
