Notice how I kept Viper out of that....Yes I am. They all sound bad. Their factory exhausts mask it as much as possible- but it's there. Don't forget about all of the Dodge Vipers as well.
A Lamborghini Huracan pulled into the gas station and into the pump right behind me 1 week ago. One of the re-skinned Audi R8s with the "Lambo" V10. He had an aftermarket exhaust so you could hear it coming a block away and he couldn't drive for shit, so he had to do two 3-point turns to get around some Nissan. We got a good long does of it's various exhaust tones.
it sounded bad. When I got int he car to leave, my wife commented and said how bad it sounded. Not because it was loud either, we have some loud vehicles she likes the sound of. They are all V8s.
It's OK when it's reved to the moon, RPMs inherantly impresses people and hide the note.
Compared to a V8 or V12 doing the same though- it sounds bad.
Other than "the TRX is better", why would I get a Raptor over an RHO?
Local dealer is asking $90K-$105K for the 2024 Raptors (non-R's). FOX suspension is better than Bilstein, for sure. But, the RAM interior is better and its around $20K less.
RHO exhaust sounds isn't the best, but I assume after you add an intake/exhaust and chip tune, it'll be much more aggressive.
I currently don't own a truck and need one, so I'm looking for a fun one that doesn't cost $100K, why would I choose Raptor over the RHO? FORD/RAM argument isn't enough to sway, like it's been said here all manufacturers have their set of issues. Even the mighty Toyota recently had a huge recall on their trucks.
I think it just boils down to looks and brand loyalty. They're both 6 cylinder, they both jump and offroad fine. Raptor has FOX and RHO has Bilstein. What else?
Just watched the whole thing. For full context I own and regularly drive both the TRX and 24 37 Raptor. Finally a driving video. Wow the exhaust sounds terrible.
Yeah, I'm not sure why the dealers are quoting $90K+ for the 2024 Raptors. If they would have told me $80K I probably would have jumped on it. Seems like RHO vs. Raptor is actually pretty comparable with minor differences.Your local dealer is way over priced on the Raptors. Non-Rs can be had under MSRP, so $12-15k less than yours. And once you get an RHO optioned up to be equivalent to a Raptor, the price is comparable. Now if you don't need or want all of those bells and whistles, by all means get the RHO. But know that it's not apples to apples.
