So V1 or passport max?

That depends.

Do you want a set it and forget quiet detector that is good and relatively quiet? If so, get the Passport Max or Passport Max 2. The only difference between the Max and Max 2 is the addition of a Bluetooth dongle to so you no longer have to use a cord for ****** Live.

If you want the best detection, with arrows and a bogey counter for situational awareness and the ability to set custom Ka sweeps for your area, get the V1. Issue with the V1 is that it is loud and a bit annoying.

The V1 is a better detector, but it is louder and hence, more annoying in traffic.

The Max/Max 2 is quiet because of GPS lockouts, but you will lose some range.

The longest range detector is the ****** Redline, with custom tuning it can get even further, but you don't have the situation awareness of the V1 or the GPS lockouts of the Max/Max 2.

****** Passport Max - have one in all 4 of our vehicles! Obviously it doesn't make getting a ticket completely impossible, but pretty close. Definitely worth the $$$. Saved me from getting a ticket countless times.

I run both V1 and K40 in various cars.

I am installing the K40 in my Raptor next week (have V1 in there now). I took the K40 out of a car I sold a few days ago. The nice features of the K40 include front and rear notification and the ability to turn off X band and k band, leaving just Ka and laser operational. In my area that eliminates 98% of the false detections and so if you here noise you know you need to pay attention.

The laser features of the K40 work extremely well.

That said you can't beat the V1 for ease of use and installation! Their upgrade program is nice as well as I have simply sent back old ones in the past, paid the $150 upgrade fee and had the latest and greatest. Currently waiting for their new unit to come up so I can upgrade 2 old units (assuming they will let you upgrade old to new).

I haven't heard about a new model coming out, but like you, I'm a big fan of the V1!! I have 2 of them...One in my Raptor and one in my Z06! They're definitely great units!

I bought two of these before Christmas and have been using them since then. The learning feature works well. I bought the wires to hard wire it into the truck. So it comes on with the key.

Escorts 9500ci is being installed in my Raptor today. Already have it in two other cars, my new favorite detector. especially for laser shifting.
