I am trying to install my passport radar detector. It's saying low power and cycles on and off. I have a test light but not a meter does anyone know what the voltage is at the mirror? I am thinking I have a bad cord just not sure.

I wired my ****** to the upfitters. I never had any luck with mirror taps on my last raptor. Plus I like being able turn it off.

Is there enough juice going through the upfitter switch itself to power the radar detector without tapping into the relay?

The whole thing is really easy. I used the far upfitter switch (the first two were used on some rigid lights).

Under the hood I connected the two yellow wires w purple stripe then found the same color beneath the passenger kick plate. I had already bought the ****** smart cord and I can tell you that the smart cord isn't long enough to stretch to the driver side. SO I use just a random wire I had in a drawer and made an "extension" and contents that to the yellow with purple stripe behind the kick plate (careful not to select the purple with yellow stripe).

Next I used a straightened coat hanger to fish the wire extension along the front side of the console where it came out by the pedals. I connected the smart cord to that. I grounded the cord over by the emergency brake and "flossed" the control button in the corner groove between the knee panel and the console.

Finally worked the radar end of the cord behind the gasketing across and behind the top of the driver side column and then tucked into the ceiling behind the windshield. ( This should be done first so you know how much slack to give).

Really easier than typing it.
