Pulling a toy hauler with the Raptor

I've been considering that exact model trailer! My plans have been put on hold due to other circumstances, though, so I don't have any actual experience with it.

Have you considered Deavers/Icons for the rear springs in order to help with sag? I've heard that loading too much weight (even though it's below the rated weight) on the rear springs can cause them to wear out prematurely. Perhaps the Timbrens would help with that also, but a stiffer set of springs may also be a good solution from what I've read.

I haven't given upgraded springs any serious consideration. Deavers aren't designed for heavy loads so I don't know if that would be any better for towing. Not sure about Icons. I know I could do HD springs, but I don't want anything that permanent and don't really want to alter the day to day driving or off road characteristics of the truck.

I do have Timbren bump stops which are quick and easy enough to swap in and out with the stock bump stops as needed. From what I'm reading, those combined with a WD hitch should be enough for a relatively uneventful ride and prevent excessive sag with the loads i'm planning to pull.

I’ve pulled trailers for over 40 years. Currently I have a 19’ SCAB and pull a 26’ vacation trailer with 1 slide out. Fully loaded it is right at 6000# which is max for a SCAB. The Raptor is Awesome pulling the trailer. I highly recommend the Husky Centerline TS Hitches. The distribution bars are a torsion design and provides the anti-sway as well as the weight distribution. I ran Reese and Easy-Lift with anti sway bar in the past but like the Centerline TS series a lot better. I looked on Amazon and they cost $300 to $370 depending on which load rating you want. This is just my experience and opinion. Your Raptor should do great! The Tow mode works great! Only bad news is it guzzles the gas. 10 mpg on flat land and 8 mpg in the hills/mountains.

Thanks for the advise, I looked into the husky and liked that it didn't require extra hardware for sway control. Installation looks reasonable simple as well. I went ahead and ordered the Husky 32218

The 32218 will work for any trailer you could possibly think of pulling. Follow the setup directions and it should make it easy to pull and enjoy driving.

Road Master makes a spring assist system. You install it and when towing of hauling heavy you crank it up and when you don't need any help you back it off and it doesn't have any effect on your suspension so it doesn't change how the truck handles on or off road when help isn't needed. I tow 3 or 4 times a year a toy hauler with my sxs total about 6000lbs wit this set up and a WD hitch I tow level. Before this setup the ass dropped like the Titanic. Didn't want to permanent changes to the truck just to tow a few times a year.IMG_2750.JPG

this is the setup I would recommend to. Have you checked your sticker to confirm your trucks payload? Mine was actually 1118 lbs. so at 600 lb tongue with 2 “full sized” adult males it didn’t leave me with much.

Mines at 1093 IIRC
