I think you made a huge step by reaching out here! Keep talking and it does not matter if it is to so called experts or the misfits here on this forum. I am sorry that the VA is completely failing you, as a veteran myself I find it beyond unacceptable that the VA can still operate this way. If you have any other benefits maybe use them and stay clear of the VA. If you ever need anything you can DM me. Semper Fi!

VA def sucks.....denied hearing claim because I didn't work in a loud environment. Small Arms and Crew Serve Weapons Instructor not to mention water blasters around 40,000 PSI and countless other loud tools for refurbing underwater Mines that had been in the ocean for months/years.

This, definitely this. And if there are things that you are not comfortable sharing with others, then talk to the roof of your truck. I know if mine could talk I’d be in trouble. (I know it sounds like I’m joking but I’m not, I find it gets my mind off things if I speak them out loud.)

My experiences with the VA have not been much different. After spilling my soul to one of their mental health docs for over the year he informed me last October that it was time for him to move on and I would be getting a new doc. I told him and the VA they could go #$%^ themselves and have not been back to them for mental health treatment since. This is all after almost 20 years of me trying to get help through the VA, them pissing me off, me circling back 5 years later cause my wife tells me I'm getting bad again...repeat...This has pretty much been my experience with the VA since I got home from Iraq in late 2003. I personally have 7 fiends that I have served with that have decided to cash in and check out of this world. I refuse to join them and for me my biggest protecting factor is my kids. The VA wants to either medicate you so you cant function or **** you off so much that you give up. You ever want to talk man reach out, I don't post on here much but if you message me I wont leave you (or any other vet hanging). I don't know about you but I find solace in the fact that we are not outliers and this is just SOP for a broken beurocratic VA. Honestly I still talk with a handful of guys I was in the thick of it with and that helps a lot. You are not crazy, you are not weak, #$%^ what anyone else thinks. Wear it as a badge of honor, many would have crumbled by now with what some of us carry with us. Oh and if any of those other vets at the VA were judging you they are just poser pieces of $%^&.

Peace brother,

I will say that I am not a doctor nor do I claim to have any direct connections to cures. I will say something with 100% certainty. Ashwagandha and B complex supplements have helped calm my nerves, adjust the hormones and adjust any typical depressive thoughts or actions. I can't stress enough also, please get a much natural sunlight as you can and trips to the beach, an ocean, not a lake. Pending what you're consuming, that could alter how the brain typically accepts and adjust what is sees/hears/feels, etc. We should all know this by now, but doing the same things could result in the same outcome. Get you some fresh vibes!

OH and ground thy self. Practice grounding for 30 to 1hr a day.

Good on you for not keeping it bottled up. You got this. I don't know whether this would be something you're open to, but there have been some really promising results from psychedelic drugs combined with a therapy session. It appears to permanently rewire the brain. You don't much see it around because big pharma controls the news and there's no need for lifetime medication with an actual cure. Might be worth looking around for a trial to get into if you're interested. Lots of research is happening around the country now that the stigma around the drugs has dissipated.

All of my buddies are gone except for 2, and they are going down hill fast. I rarely ever see them, they always have tons of doctor visits. I spend most of my days by myself taking care of whatever. I talk in my head A LOT. I talk to my cats. Not to make this a religious thing....I talk to God all day long. He's the only one around to listen. I unload all kinds of sh*t on Him. He can take it. He understands. Point is, TALKING about it to SOMEONE is half the battle. I talk to my cats all day long, too. They think I'm nuts anyhow, but as long as I keep opening the food cans, they can tolerate me and all is good.

Things that bug me (and probably a lot of other guys) -

- Guilt about the past (mostly perceived). Did what we had to do, it's not like we 'liked it'.

- Survivors Guilt. Who knows why some make it and some don't. I should have been dead a dozen times. Maybe 3 dozen times. All I know is that MOST of those times there is NO WAY that I should have made it. Only an outside force (I now recognize as God) kept me alive. No other way. Almost all of my buddies are gone now. It's a lonely feeling. Can be depressing if I let it, but I don't let it.

- Need to get over the hump of focusing on yesterday and start looking ahead to the future. You can't do anything about the past, but you can do something about the future. I look forward to cooler weather, going camping, etc. I keep planning ahead, looking forward.

- For me, I have to have God. I have to believe that He kept me around for some reason. I still haven't figured it out yet, but there's something coming that He wants me to do, most likely to help others. Hopefully MANY others.

- TALK. I have to talk, to myself, to my cats, to my wife, to my friends, to God, to someone! Anyone who will listen. Those who have been there will be much better listeners and understand.

----------

Anyway, that's just me. Hopefully it might help someone else.

This man speaks facts. Ensure whomever you use has YEARs and YEARs of experience.
