I didn’t pay that much attention to it that far back, but IIRC there were already rumblings of EPA & CAFE standards making having gas guzzling v8’s very hard to calculate into the fleet of sales. I suspect that at that stage, Ford wasn’t planning on any half ton pickup v8’s going forward. Maybe they dismissed it outright, maybe they were trying to play nice with the regime at the time. Leno didn’t get his hands on a RR until mid ’23. That’s a lot of sales that went to Ram.IF you take a close look at the TRX concept truck in 2016 those are not one off part just built for the concept . Then Covid delayed both manufactures by a few years . Ford knew it was coming
