Pre Collision Warning Lights

On my 2018, they are far from perfect. On several occasions they flashed when I am already slowing down or worse, they flash and scare the crap out of me when a car is in the lane next to me. It is a good thing I do not have it set to break automatically, because that would be dangerous for the poor Prius behind me.

The manual says it will not brake for you, but it does pre-load the brakes.

I know it's not supposed to but my 17 has definitely applied the brakes as a result of the collision warning. Scared the hell out of me the first time it did it.

she will chop the throttle in addition to pre-loading the brakes. I have it on video; you can’t see me not pressing the brake pedal but this definitely happened to me as well. In my case, I was on the gas, then neutral throttle and someone cut in front of me and I figured they were getting out the way of their 6 o’clock. They weren’t, they were trying to go from far left to right on the interstate to make an exit, so I’m in 2nd lane from the right and the driver in front just abandons all hope. I had plenty of room, so i was going to resolve the issue with throttle and a lane change. Lucille had other ideas about the proper resolution to this particular scenario.

It was like Raptor Assault, in the gravel course, when you get sideways in normal mode and the truck cuts power for what seems like forever, but it’s really a second or so.

you need to inspect and see if there wiring is even in the harness, it probably isn't.

Hell, I was stunned that my Ex's mustang didn't have the harness to add memory seats to her mustang (it was one trim level below the car with memory seats)

Me too. I was looking left and traffic stopped, so did the raptor.

OK, I might be thinking of my wife's car with the option to turn braking on or off. I know the flashing lights and warning alarm is quite jarring when you can clearly see there is no danger in front of you.

As with many other thing on Raptor, down the line Ford removed that feature, so now warning displays only on the dash.

Does anyone know the part # and wiring harness (if any) to "upgrade" to those lights for MY2020 Raptors?

Funny how many inaccurate answers you get when the information is contained in the owners manual. There are three possible settings as descrived below. This is for a 2019...I can't speak to any other year.

"Alert: When active, a flashing visual warning appears and an audible warning tone sounds.

Brake Support: The system is designed to help reduce the impact speed by preparing the brakes for rapid braking. The system does not automatically apply the brakes. If you press the brake pedal, the system could apply additional braking up to maximum braking force, even if you lightly press the brake pedal.

Active Braking: Active braking may activate if the system determines that a collision is imminent. The system may help the driver reduce impact damage or avoid the crash completely.

Note:Brake Support and Active Braking are active at speeds up to 75 mph (120 km/h). If the vehicle has a radar sensor or Adaptive Cruise Control, then Brake Support and Active Braking are active up to the maximum speed of the vehicle."

You really don't need the projection on the windshield. I thought I wanted that feature too when I first got my truck. I have a late model 2019 and the visual warning on the instrument panel and the audible warning are more than enough. On top of that, if the truck really thinks you're about to crash, it WILL apply the brakes which will get your attention more than the warning light projected on the windshield.
