OK so this morning I was leaving work. It was pretty freaking nice out as fall is starting to show up so I thought the sunroof slid back would be great..... Well in a perfect world it would be, but my sunroof made a few pops and then only opened about half way. I tried to close it and it made it slid back even farther until it finally just slid all the way back and that was it. Now the motor would try to push it forward but would trip out and the few mm it did go it would slide back.

So now with it wide open and we have rain coming for next week I was waiting at the dealership to get it in for work. Got me in a little Ford focus "Jelly Bean" and they are saying it will be fixed by Monday. Going to cost me 100 bucks as that's what they said is the deductible.

Probably only opened the sunroof less than 30 times and usually just tilt it up for the moon roof cool factor.

Any one else have and issue like this?

Isfast, sorry to hear about your trouble! Thinking out loud, in the old days, when you couldn't afford any options, people would say that they didn't need them because "that was just one more thing to break".

Given the truck's ability to take a pounding off-road, does anyone think that maybe the "moving parts" are not up to the task? Don't get me wrong, a moon roof can take a dump even if the truck never leaves the payment.

The problem I had, which many others might as well as on mine it was there and I wasn't going to walk away due to a sunroof...I can't recall but most of the ones I have see come with a roof opening...part of a larger package...

Yeah when I bought my truck it came in with all the bells and whistles. I do like the sun roof it is cool as shit but man does it SUCK when these go out. I would have been cool with them breaking in place but fully open was NOT cool!

Does anyone know what was the issue with Boss Hoss? Was it a tracking issue or part failure? I know my roommates 05 before his raptor had this issue and he ended up getting some parts and doing it on his own time. Now he was at least able to get it back into place and the problem with mine is it wouldn't move even with help to get to the closed position. Hints the SOL issue of it open with rain in the forecast.

Guess one more thing to add to the "always carried in the raptor" list. Trash bags (already have duck tape) to water proof it if I was miles away or it did it when it was raining.

I had mine shit on me. Same thing. $1800 and a week wait on parts. Warrantee took care of it. Only thing that sucks is my headliner went back in about 3/8 of an inch to far fwd. So the sunroof shade slides fwd and hits the inner part before it blocks out sun light. SUCKS. I decided to just add some fuzzy Velcro to the surface where the sliding shade stops against and it did the trick. Still, need to mention this to your service guy. I do NOT feel like having a grease monkey rip the head liner out again.

I will mention that! I kinda had the light issue you are talking about. If the sun was just right it would peek through.

Yes, it was worse at times. Street lights is what was really bugging me. Kept seeing flashes of light out of my peripheral vision. The sun roof shade has a raised section on the cabin surface that is spose to just meet up with the opening when closed giving about 3/8 of over lap. I showed my service guy a raptor on the lot and compared. He shrugged his shoulders. HAHaaaa. Yea, me too, I didn't want my truck ripped up again.
