Powder Coating Stock Rims Advice Needed

I found a metallic gray thats a perfect match to the fenders.

Looks like a great match. You have to show the loaner wheels you were rolling around with.

in know some hate this but I plasti dipped mine (popped out the center coved lugs and did it with tires on). I really like it. I keep them clean with armor all extreme. very easy to touch up and it looks great to me.

Sorry to go off topic on this thread but the Plasti dip looks great. What color plasti dip is that?

I was going to power coat my stockies until I saw the price; $800!. Now I'm going to plasti dip them and use that money to buy Methods or beadlocks when I get bored of the stockies

Just black. Tons of vids on how to do it. Just clean everything well. Lightly "dust" at first. Thin layers about every 10 minutes. Make sure the overspray is thick (to give plenty to peel from). I use armor all extreme to clean and keep from dulling. I did my tundras bumpers and badges years ago. Held up for several years. Easy to touch up. Easy to remove and redo if needed. I was hesitant to do on my raptor but couldn't deal w machined look. Very happy w it.
I keep an extra can for emergency touch ups. Good luck

Any good powder coater will chemically strip the wheels to the bare metal, then coat them.

I had a set of wheels PC and the cost involved was close to a set of aftermarket wheels, chemical stripping was $200 alone.

I paid $120 per wheel for my last set that I had powder coated - this included chemically stripping and coating. I would shop around, like I said good powder coaters that deal with automotive parts (wheels specifically) will always strip the wheels first. Chemical is the easiest/cheapest but sometimes wheels need more than that, if so that would cost more to be bead or walnut blasted.

They stripped them down to bare metal. PC black would have been $250 cheaper. Gray was more due to a 2 ply coating.

Loaners were horrible. 22" on low pros. Hard week to drive around......
