Can’t seem to shake the “What do you do” thread that died.

How do you guys in your 20’s have Gen2’s AND live in California? I live in IL, am nearly taxed to death as much as Cali, make over 60k and can’t seem to figure it out.

Do you own businesses - if so what? Do you own homes too - Cali mortgages are crazy? Do you have student loans? Am I missing something here? Asking for a friend. ;)

34 w used Gen1, first Raptor.

I bought my Gen 1 new off the lot at 24, actually days after purchasing my first house. I was living in Hawaii at the time and most of the dealerships here had 10k markups, so I just paid the 2k to ship it instead. I am military and that pays decent enough for my rank and my job. The first three years of ownership I only paid for it using special pays (dive pay, hazard duty pay, etc) which helped a lot. I own a home, and I also have a few rental properties now. I won't claim to be self made because my parents were well off and I did have perks because of it as child and teenage years, but after about 19 I was pretty much self sufficient. I also invested in bitcoin back when it was little more than a novelty.

Hahaha yeah. My dad owns real estate/rental properties in Mexico/here in San Diego, California (He purchased U.S. RE in 2011). He also has a remodeling business. I'm currently a student at San Diego State actually. I don't have student loans because I pay the school monthly. And my friend owner 3 taco trucks and has other investments as well. He graduared from UCSD haha. As for student loans from him, I'm not sure. I haven't asked haha.

No need to be petty. Depends on your line of work. I have friends who are 23 making $250K-$300K working at Investment Banks and others in Commercial Real Estate Development Making $150k+.

I had a lot of great opportunities due to my family, education, and the environment where I grew up. All of which I am grateful for. My family started a home remodeling company a few years ago that I'm part of. Which is a unique opportunity I wouldn't have had otherwise. It doesn't make me better than anyone else because of it; it's just the hand I was dealt.

Sorry if that bothers you.

Haha thank you for having my back but I definetly didn't take it in a negative way at all! But appreciate it! My parents have helped out a lot tbh. Interestingly enough we are in the real estate and remodeling industry. It pays to be Mexican and know construction and be a little bit business savy xD haha.

32 and bought my 19 Raptor. Wish I would have bought Gen 1 at 24, so didn't make the same mistake twice.

It also isn't about being able to afford the raptor. It is more about how you secure yourself financially. I have been fortunate not to have other debt, make decent money, and set aside a fair amount for retirement. I have not until recently started investing in things like the stock market more heavily. I wish I did that sooner.
