To answer the question, both ways the t/s switch does return to center. After making a turn, it will self cancel. I have noticed a few times if you dont turn sharp enough, it will stay clicking, and a tap either direction shuts it off. NOt sure if it will self cancel after a while of not turning, and dont want to look like the idiot on the road trying it out.

Thanks Chad! The OP said something about "self cancel after a mile" if you didn't turn sharp enough but what you reported makes much more sense... "a tap in either direction will turn it off". :thumbsup:
