This type of thing makes we weary about jumping from a Tacoma to a 2022 Raptor.

Toyota was shipping tacos with underfilled axles that were locking up and needed to be recalled. Basing your decision on a single incident is ridiculous.

Yeah. Just don't pay for it. it's something like $600 for the first 3 years of activation.

Haha that’s what I’m doing myself. I’m taking the risk as I’ve driven Tacoma’s for 10 years and have had not one problem.

Go on the taco forums and read about all of their problems, especially 2016+. This post is an isolated incident and you’re acting like it’s some type of widespread problem.

I didn't pay for it. When my truck was setup on my FordPass app, I received a message telling me it was ready to use. Let me know if anybody else has it show up on their FordPass app. It does say it is good for 3 years, but I didn't sign up or pay for anything, at least that I knowingly did.

I also got the Blue Cruise notification on my FordPass app. I have no clue what it is...wasn't something I even heard about until I saw the message.

Back to OP’s issue. I know PDI doesn’t check every, single, solitary thing, but I’m thinking that lead should have been evident at the stealership. Unless it only had a mile on it or something insignificant.

OP: Did you test drive and then re-check the truck? The Rap makes this easy, since you can actually see underneath and granted the skid plates could cause some interference but you can see on top of the front one.

This looks like it would’ve been a challenge to catch though.
