Thanks .. so do they retain all the functionality of the stock ports? In other words they can still charge the phone and activate your android auto apps when it's plugged in and the PX6 recognizes that the phone is charging and/or launch your android auto apps?

Just want to be sure since I saw some video that had add on usb ports that were routed and stored in the glove box.

Yes - those ports are actually connected to sync 3 which passes through to the tablet...

Mel,

For me the value is more for testing various scenarios when I have time. I like to dig deeper into tech things and see what may be possible in different situations, whether I use them or not later.

Testing is a legit reason to try it out. I was wondering if there was some aspect I was missing.

Later this summer AA is getting a major update to its capabilities and the UI revision is going to be so much better than it is now. Visually I have like CarPlay better but since I have a Note9 I of course don't use it. There of course other apps that can pull together information and functions similar to AA with some really nice interfaces. On the PX3 I had crash issues constantly with the 3 apps I tried so stopped trying on the PX3 (really just not enough time). I will be trying some things with the PX6 version including the Torque app and others.

I didn't know AA was getting an upgrade. It needed it. Will look forward to seeing how that turns out

Update:

They fixed CarPlay today. They sent an updated CarPlay app that completely corrected the issue and it’s as large and brilliant as you’d hope.

Dare I say it... with the new cable and the factory nav fixed.... the 4th gen tablet is out of this world.

It took what the PX3 had and turned it into something that’s not good... it’s fantastic.

It’s worth every penny. I highly recommend this thing.

Another thing to add regarding choosing to use AA (or Carplay) vs the built-in apps on the tablet would be the data connection. AA already has the data connection through your phone and just displays it on the tablet which is nice and tidy, vs the built-in apps need a wifi hotspot to get full functionality.

It would be great if the tablet could natively use your cell phone's data connection when connected through USB.

True. To me though, if you don't use a wifi hotspot of some sort, then you're not getting your money's worth on the PX6. Although I guess you could plan on using AA for short trips, and then turning on your phone's hotspot and the built in apps for longer trips, or something like that. I really like the idea of getting a dedicated hotspot for the truck though. It's a big plus to just be able to get going without thinking about having to connect the phone, or turn on the phone's hotspot, a get full functionality.

It's definitely on my list, but I'm thinking I should upgrade the audio system first.

Although I imagine it's probably way down the road if it's even considered at all, but I'd love it they set an feature to create routines within the truck. Sync 3 has access to many features and information, and it'd be awesome if you could create custom routines. Basic if/then stuff. Say for example if the outside temp is above 85 degrees, automatically turn on the cooled seats when you start the engine. Or perhaps start a different audio source depending on time of day. Take it a step further and be able to integrate truck functions with your home in some way.

That is so great to hear! Since mine got shipped 3 days ago I presume mine doesn’t have the new CarPlay app so I may have to hit them up for that

Does the PX6 have a sim card slot so you could insert a sim card and use cellular data directly from the tablet?

currently when you auto start the truck, it turns on the cooling seats and ac (warm weather), does this no longer function with the screen? I can’t imagine it would stop since that’s part of sync, but just want to verify
