Also is it normal that the backup sensor chime now plays through the small speaker in the dash? Instead of the big speakers like the factory unit? This unit is really cool but there's a bunch of small things I'm trying to figure out. My clock always resets when I come back the next morning and the sound quality is nowhere near as loud as the stock head unit.

I have sync 3 in my truck and don’t need to do that to get the backup cameras to work.

Is that because you have the 4” screen from the factory?

I ended up having a bad software version. They sent me a new one and pretty much all my issues were gone! Only thing left for me is sometimes the reverse alarm plays through the dash not the speakers but honestly I think that was happening before so that may be a ford issue and not Phoenix! The PX6 is such a cool upgrade! I wouldn’t hesitate even if I had started with the bigger factory screen

Since I have a 2015 F150, I have been following the F150 thread, but thought I would share what I posted there:

Its been a long road, but I think I finally have this unit working to my liking and I’m going to give it a thumbs up.

There are some annoyances I’m still working on, but keep in mind I’m upgrading from the SYNC 2 that did not have Apple Carplay or Android Auto.

I had pretty simple requirements for the Phoenix unit, I needed a larger screen for navigation (bad eye site) and to stream music from Amazon. I have Echo’s through-out my house for automation and I subscribe to Amazon Music. With this is mind, below are my choices on how I use the system

1) Android Auto. Works very good, I can ask Google for directions or to play artist, album, song, etc. The only quirk is you must request to be played from Amazon Music: “Play Paul Simon from Amazon Music”, If you don’t, it will default to Pandora.

My gripes with AA. Not full screen, you get a screen that covers about the same area as the original Sync unit. AA wastes a lot of real estate on this big screen and it’s a shame.

Takes about 30 seconds to connect to the built-in software that controls AA once you plug your phone in to the units USB-OTG port, not a deal breaker, but it could be faster.

2) Apple CarPlay. I don’t have an Apple phone, but my wife does, and I was absolutely blown away by CarPlay on IOS 13.1.1. I didn’t get the opportunity to play around much, but Apple is taking advantage of large screen head units and it is gorgeous. If CarPlay supports Amazon Music, we will be using CarPlay on any longer trips.

3) As mentioned above, I have several Echo Devices, one being an Echo Auto. My default setup is using Waze full screen and Echo auto to stream my music of choice. The Echo auto connects to the Sync2 unit via Bluetooth and works much like any other Echo device. There are couple of problems with this setup

1) If any other menu options are chosen (referring to the units built in Icons at the top of the unit), I’m booted out Bluetooth media of Sync2 that’s running in the background streaming the Echo Auto. I then must open up the Console Icon to get back to Sync2 and choose the Bluetooth media.

2) CarPlay, AA and Echo Auto all respond to voice commands, but for some reason when I’m running Waze as a stand-alone app, the microphone will not work within Waze. I’m going to contact Phoenix to see if there is a fix.

I’m going to do a YouTube walkthrough of my setup and how other Android installed apps work with the unit (Netflix, Amazon Video, etc.) At this point I really like the unit and believe it was worth the money.

Hey folks

is there someone in the Southern California, LA area who would be interested in helping out Phoenix? They have several new prototype “canbus boxes” that they want to test on a truck. The purpose of this new “audio box” is upgraded sound switching, better integration of tablet audio into the stock harness, and most importantly... improved Bluetooth quality and improved audio quality with elimination of crackles and/or pops found in certain music apps run thru the tablet.

I’m told it should be a very major upgrade to the overall audio experience.

Do you know if this update will be available for PX3 units? Would love to help them test but I’m in Boulder [emoji3525]

Helped them test out the new canbus boxes over the weekend. There were 3 to choose from and after listening to all 3, there was only 1 that stood out as being significantly better than the others. The other 2 boxes all had signs of having too much gain and causing that distorted crackle sound, even when listening at volume levels between 5-10.

I have a stock 2018 B&O system, and like to listen to loud music (more bass the better), and with the new canbus box I didn't notice any any of the previous distortion issues when playing Pandora or USB music through the tablet. Listening to music between volume levels 10-15 sound way better than before. At these levels I can't make out any distortion, and if there is any it's hard to tell.

On another note, the new software allows you to reorder the top menu (Navigation, Console, Music, etc.) to your liking by long pressing an icon and then dragging it to the position you want it. Icons are still the same and un-editable, but this is a nice feature they added.

Gtibbot mentioned above that the built-in Android Auto (AA) screen only uses 1/2 the tablet. As an option, those AA dongles that you can get from Amazon, will make the navigation screen is slightly larger at about maybe 3/4 of the tablet screen. However, there is a black letterbox effect at top and bottom of the screen which take up the remaining 1/4, which sort of sucks. IMO the best choice of navigation is using the one that's on the tablet itself and having a WIFI connection.

That's a step in the right direction, ideally I would like to either delete or reassign them to an another app.
