Phoenix Android Audio retains Sync 3

I tried doing a trip using Waze today and got pretty frustrated. It would go for about a couple hours then whack out completely. Then it just went to a black screen with the words android cut in half. Had to get off the interstate Turn off and restart the truck. Would be nice if regular nav would work. Then after that I lost audio while using CarPlay and waze just sucked felt like I was gonna get in an accident messing with the damn thing.I think I’m to the point that when I get time I may be done with this thing. I really wanted to like it.

I reported the same issue earlier in this thread, on longer road trips Waze will mess up requiring you to pull over, stop/turn off the car and then it resets. Really annoying, probably going to pull my unit and reinstall the stock setup. Poor working GPS from Waze is a killer because GPS through sync or iPhone is useless.

Yeah get the dongle, install the app, and it’s a much better experience than using the sync pass through.



Search “USB CarPlay Dongle” in amazon and you’ll see a million options. The one I got is no longer available so I don’t want to endorse a specific one and have it be junk. Plugs into one of the Phoenix USB ports; gives you full screen CarPay.

I'm throwing in the towel. I'm on my 2nd unit as the first unit was bricked by an attempted canbus update. What's funny is the new unit has terrible audio source switching issues where as my original did not. Anyway, the main reason I'm returning it is that the SYNC system is not working like factory and is having issues with switching audio sources and dropping bluetooth calls. I could handle the other issues but it has become extremely annoying. Good luck and maybe they will release a finished complete product in the next gen

i threw the towel a month ago due to a bunch of glitches...did not want to risk it so i opted for a refund.
i guess i`ll try to retrofit an 8`` screen now (i have the peasant 800a raptor)

Mine still working great 3 months in. Zero issues.

Sync 3 with no nav, auto AC.

I have also installed 2 units for buddies that are working great also.

Just curious where you got the canbus upgrade that bricked your unit?

Unable to do updates, always comes up with “Error”, still dealing with minor issues. Waze still works, but haven’t taken ant trips beyond 1:30 in duration. Some have reported freezing after about 2hrs of use when using Waze.
