I’m curious how your factory nav behaves without the tablet gps antenna. Or Apple Maps nav if you have an iPhone.

Factory nav isn’t working and it has the gps indicating showing it’s not receiving, however when I switch back to waze map (no hotspot) it accurately depicts proper location/navigation. So I’m assuming the waze app is getting GPS information.

Before I had been using a phone as a hot spot

My app version is 20190221A, when I requested an update link their response was

“Thanks for reponse,
we will inform your information to our technician next week to see if there is a update for it and feed you back”

I saw there was a later version linked here but that hasn’t worked

so what's the deets on iPhone users? get the dongle and it's good?

Yeah get the dongle, install the app, and it’s a much better experience than using the sync pass through.

What dongle? I just ordered the screen and plug my iPhone into sync normally.

Search “USB CarPlay Dongle” in amazon and you’ll see a million options. The one I got is no longer available so I don’t want to endorse a specific one and have it be junk. Plugs into one of the Phoenix USB ports; gives you full screen CarPay.

Does the dongle fix the streaming quality issues?
I have a jail broken iPhone I use with it- video quality is about the same on my phone and on the screen. Some lag/pixelation that goes away after buffering. NFL Network, YouTube, and Netflix are all good. I also run Waze this way- no issues. No audio issues with Spotify either. It’s essentially a pass-through for the iPhone.

I haven’t tried it with my regular iPhone but I’m sure it works the same way with apple’s restrictions on apps.

What’s strange....

When I first installed it with the very first firmware and canbus.... there were no audio streaming issues with the apps and Bluetooth worked extremely well.

Fast forward to 5 updates later and Pandora doesn’t stream well. Spotify is normal. Tidal has done quality but buffers constantly.

They sent me an update to the update and it didn’t help This issue.

There are no audio quality issues going from iPhone thru sync of course. I like Pandora a lot for easy listening and it bugs me that I have to go thru sync for it.
