Quick question and maybe it's been answered else where...

Does going to mid perch firm up the ride? I want to increase the nose height after adding my Roque bumper but like the soft ride for the street so don't want to affect it....

Yes. Mid-perch firms up the ride. The comfort of the firmer ride gets mixed reviews. I enjoy the firmer ride. I felt the stock ride was too plushy and Cadillac-like. I prefer a firmer ride, but I've been used to driving lifted Jeep Wranglers for the past 20 years. If you're used to a Lexus or Cadillac ride, then stay on bottom perch.

The firmer ride also improves handling on corners and when braking. There isn't as much roll or nose dive as on bottom perch. I like that, but some others don't. The cool thing about mid-perch is that it's reversible. I'd recommend to drive it on bottom perch for a few weeks, then change it to mid-perch and drive it for a few weeks. If you don't like it, change it back to bottom perch. If you do the work yourself, the only thing it'll cost you is an alignment.

Or if and when someone makes progressive rate front coil springs again, get those. I was able to get some of the Gieser Bros progressive coils about 6 months ago and am loving them.

I was in that boat that I like the mid perch height but preferred the softer ride of bottom perch. The progressive fronts are a nice balance between the two. Wouldn't say that they are "Caddilac" like, but much less stiff than mid perch. A happy medium for me.

Oh, and upgrading shocks will not improve comfort of ride. Most upgraded shocks (3.0's etc) actually give a stiffer ride as they are made for off-road performance over street driving comfort.

Hey guys, after a couple days of looking, I finally found a respectable place to do my perch mod.

The guys at Ideal Automotive did an awesome job.

They have actually done a few perch mods already ( a rarity in FL). They only charged me 2 hours labor which was $120ish.

Where at? I'm in central Florida and looking for a solid place to do mine.

$120 is great, they also did a alignment right??

Dave

I've seen multiple people reference whether or not the alignment was done well. Is there a reason for this? Is the Raptor more difficult to align for shops than most other vehicles? Thanks.

Went mid-perch on Saturday. This is how it should have come from the factory. Every handling characteristic feels better. The ride is noticeably firmer. It's not harsh it just no longer feels squishy.

Hey everyone I did the mid perch this past weekend in preparation for havoc at the end of the month.. One issue I had was the left side set screw was frozen It broke the tip off of my 3/32 Allan inside the screw so I had to resort to at first a rubber mallet I got half way to mid perch position so I got out a board and a 4lb hammer got her in place and put the snap ring on. I never loosened the screw just broke my tiny Allan inside of it. The right side I started with I watched a YouTube video of RPG doing it and they mention nothing about tightening the screw back.. I used some autozone spring compressors and a wrench and battery impact but could only get it up high enough for the snap ring to slide in. I had no clearance for the tightening of the set screw. I drove it for about a 100 miles and no issues I can't think a tiny 3/32 set screw would make or break the suspension of a 6000lb truck.. Let me know your thoughts if this is something that could make the puck slip over the snap ring or not

Here's the video http://youtu.be/aqJXF0KYp0I

Mid perch is a lot nicer than high perch which I had done to my previous screw it's not so rough and a hell of a lot more responsive than low. My 2¢..

Set screw not required. I believe it was stated here previously that the screw keeps the perch in place and the white outlined "SVT" facing front.

Okay thanks for the response. I can see how it would keep the puck from spinning around if not tight. But what do you mean by "keeping the perch in place"? I tried searching for it but came up with nothing just about the screw sorry if repost.
