Panamint Valley & Death Valley - Late Sept/Early Oct

Andy's plan is for us to use the Panamint Valley Hotel, Resport, Spa, Casino & Campground (just kidding - they call it a "resort" but it sounds like a motel with campgrounds) as our base camp. We'll stay there and venture our each of the three days (Fri-Sun).

And....don't let the word 'Resort' fool you. Panamint Springs is a classic desert rat hangout.

They have a bar (lots of beer), restaurant (good food), gas station, 14 rooms (with bed & bath) and not much else.

The campground does have toilets and a shower (and not much else).

They generate their own power, and have their own water system. Their phone (business use only) link is via a bounced cell signal using a gang of directional antennas. But......they do have internet via satellite.

They are quite a distance from anywhere - the nearest places are Stovpipe Wells - 36 miles (the bar/restaurant was closed there last week due to a fire), and Trona - 50 miles.
