Paint imperfections ?

Hard to tell from the pictures, but I believe what you are seeing is the reflection distorting because of orange peel. Portions of these trucks have some serious orange peel and it will make the reflection wavy from certain angles.

The door "ding" appearance I think is from stamping aluminum. I think all F150's have it. I too had to adjust my quality expectations before getting this truck coming from BMW. Once you do that its no big deal.

It had occurred to me it could be from some type of stamping process. I actually forgot the truck was aluminum !

Don’t think it’s orange peel I’m seeing. It only has 1200 miles , garage kept and never sustained any damage that would cause a ding on the hood (plus no paint chipped in the area). Not sure wtf it is, probably just the metal or paint

Mine had 6-7 good dings and a few scratches as well. I made dealer fix them before I took delivery of mine. I have owned American and German. You will always find dings. They park vehicles on lots too close together and are very careless when prepping.

The only way to ensure proper care and eliminate careless dings is to order and request that all plastic be left on and do prep yourself when you take delivery.

I took a close look at the hood tonight, it appears it actually may be orange peel making it appear like a ding

If you expect Ford to produce Bentley-like quality, well...

When I got my truck, I had rubber bands under the hood, some weather stripping wasn't in place, headliner needed to be aligned, windshield leaked.... Domestic car manufacturing has long ways to go in quality control.

Your complaints are borderline ridiculous; rubber bands under the hood? Sorry, when an F-150 rolls off the line every 53 seconds, sometimes packaging from the components doesn't hit the line floor. I just pulled off a loose tag from my ABS Module today, I suppose I should be outraged and make baseless statements about quality control.

As some others have said, the aluminum panels can often appear to have uneven areas when viewed at certain angles and lighting. I've noticed it on the plastic door handles as well. Once you actually get close to it and run your hand over it, the area is smooth; there is no issue. It's a result of the lighting reflecting on the painted surface.

You might want to read my message carefully, it was directed at OP and sarcasm in comparison to Bentely is to highlight the point.

I very much understand there is a lot of fanfare for Ford on this forum, and if I'm not mistaken from other other thread about front camera quality issues, you actually work for Ford. No need to defend crappy quality, we understand and unfortunately accept it.

Dunno man. Can't you talk with management to look into this unfortunate issue? A Prius is looking better everyday!
