Wow. Since when has an American buyer been at a disadvantage when it comes to buying an American product???

Try dealing in markets where Arab and Asian buyers will pay double digit multipliers over retail for American made specialized goods for a living. American buyers are at a significant disadvantage there too.

MSRP = Manufacturers SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE

When I bought my first Raptor, I bought it used, because it saved me about $30k over the dealer markup at the dealer I was looking at. At the time I decided I would just mod it to where I wanted it, because the seemed the most cost effective method. That truck had the 800A and not a whole lot more.
After I owned it a few months, the CFO figured out what it was going to cost to get that truck to where I wanted it. Because of that, she decided that I really needed the truck with 801A and the Roush stage 2. So she did all of the legwork, and found the dealers in the Phoenix area who had Raptors on the lot, and who were not charging additional markup. When she found the one that was willing to work with her, she bought the truck for a fair price that had what she knew I wanted. I was not involved in the process at all. BTW, I have a FIN code, but it doesn't work on the Raptors, and my fleet dealer had none on the lot, or I would have gotten a very fair price from them.
So, what it boils down to is does someone want to do the work to find a Raptor at the price they want to pay, or do they want to flop their checkbook open and pay what the dealer wants them to pay. The dealer is just trying to maximize their profits. I get that, and I try and maximize the money I retain in my wallet. That is why I am able to shop at about 12 different Ford dealers in the Phoenix area.

It's noteworthy to mention how much the dealer allocation process has evolved over the years. In the early days (2010-2011), dealers would get a set amount of dealer inventoried raptors for that year but they were able to special order almost as many as they had actual customers on. It's not that many but we probably did 20 deals for forum members in that time period for near invoice without any reflection on the preset dealer inventoried allocation. I'm sure the inventoried trucks back then still went for a premium as the dealers still wanted to cash in on the draw of the raptor but at least people who did their research could get into one for a good deal.

Fast forward to today, gone are the days of what seemed like unlimited special orders. Dealers get X amount of new builds per month and it's up to them how to use them. Some months the allocation is 0.

I guess the point I'm making is the landscape has changed and sales prices are reflecting that. Hell, what does it tell you when dealers are buying them from each other for $1K over MSRP?

On the flip side, as an owner, I'm very content knowing that my resale is going to benefit from the market conditions. We've all been there with fast depreciating vehicles so it's nice to have something that retains it's value for a change.

Thanks, that answers some questions, but creates another:
Why the change to the allocations?

What this tells me is Ford doesn't want to make Raptors anymore, because here is what's going to happen.
Ford limits production/ dealer allocation, so the dealers add a ton of money to the price because they can.
Now we all know the pool of $55K price point buyers is much larger than the $75K pool, so Raptor sales drop.
Then the geniuses at Ford decide to stop making Raptors because sales have dropped.
It was fun while it lasted.

Raptor has been one of the most profitable halo vehicles for Ford

You're ******* high if you think Ford is going to stop making them

Vendors are just as guilty for pricing structures sometimes, sucks but this is what makes us a "Free Country". At least these guys don't have to wait for a raptor and get the last year of the gen1's. :)

To be honest, I'm not even sure anymore.

I think physically I qualify as a man, but I'm really a woman trapped in a man's body.

I can't afford a gender reassignment surgery (even at Thailand prices) but thankfully I have enough extra pounds on my body as to have supple man breasts.

I'm thankful that the moderators here, especially BIRDMAN, allow me to identify as a woman online and provided me with the FRF Lady tag. I'm also thankful for the members here that accept me for who I am without freaking out or being homophobic.

Sorry to derail the thread guys. PM me if you have any further questions Ruger.
as a woman, you got the stinkiest farts i have ever had to bear. i think my passengerseat has a hole now

No questions, JB. I was confused and curious, and my curiosity was hungry.

Well, I suppose that it's good to know that the resale value on my Raptor will be dandy. It doesn't make much difference to me, but I'm sure my heirs will be delighted.

If there is a Raptor II, I think it's a given that it won't be powered by the 6.2L fire breather. That, I am certain, will drive upward the demand (and value) of our trucks even further.
