Pretty pessimistic view. I ordered one at MSRP. How am I confident that the dealership with honor that deal? I made the deal with the owner of the dealership that sent me to the sales manager to get it done.Everyone seems to think they're the exception to the rule... If you want a Gen 3 in 2021 you're paying over MSRP. There will be one or two guys that find a dealer who will do this but almost 100% of people will pay the markup or will need to wait until mid-late 2022. Dealers CAN get $15k over MSRP right now (especially since used Gen 2s are doing for original MSRP) so they WILL. If someone tells you their store isn't doing markups it's because they're misinformed, they haven't even had the conversation internally yet, or they're just plain lying. Most of the cases I've seen so far appear to be that the sales managers and owner hadn't talked yet about whether they're doing markups. One person goes and promises a buyer they won't be because they don't on anything else. Then they do to put the deal together than the owner or GM says "whoa, no no, we're doing a markup on new Raptors." I'll be holding off for a couple years.
Not everyone is out to screw people. Some dealership owners understand that reoccurring future business for parts, service, and future vehicles outweighs the short-term $15K now. Can you make an extra $15K now? Sure? Can you do the right thing and make a customer for life? Seems so, because people are selling at MSRP.
I find it funny that the people that don't want to do the legwork and have talked to three dealers to be told that there is a markup just assume that everyone is doing the same.
