Okay, I confess. I'm a fart. An American fart, and proud of it! And I'm 58 years old, and I'm proud of that too. But since I had the cruise set on 72 mph for 3350 miles across seven states and back and had a total average speed of nearly 60 mph over ten days of travel, I don't think I drive like an old fart. You may disagree, of course, but since I'm an old fart I don't much care!

Can we make it "Stinky Old American Guys Rule"?

(I said I was proud of being an American fart. Look, if being a fart is inevitable then the best kind of fart to be is an American fart.)

Never got less than 57 on my Buell, and have seen as high as 63 at steady highway speeds. (The advantage of a simple, long stroke engine design.)

I don't know why you fellows are getting 1.5 to 2 mpg poorer than I usually do. I've got a 2011 6.2 SuperCab and I get 15.0 to 15.5 in town and between 16.0 and 16.5 on the road. (The mileage I recently saw at altitude is not included in those figures.) I have an AIRAID intake, but the final analysis on that is that it produced NO fuel mileage improvement. It eliminated any hesitation to abrupt throttle changes, but the mileage is the same. All I can think is that I'm easy on the throttle and accelerate smoothly rather than abruptly. I use the power when necessary, believe me, but I don't when there's no reason to. FWIW.

My 2012 Screw has the AirAid intake and 5-Star Tuning. I drive about 25 miles a day, unless I'm running a bunch of errands or going on a trip. I use my brakes sparingly, coasting when possible, and adding gas smoothly. My old driving style was all gunning it and brakes. I am set to 91 Performance on my tune, so I guess I could try my 87 Econ tune and see what happens.

With air conditioning on I get 11.5, and with it off I get 12.5.

I can easily get 16.8 MPG by resetting the gauge, but it will quickly trickle down to 11.5 after a few hours of driving.

Correct, I am coasting. I know these are big heavy trucks, but they will coast. I live in Denver and even Semi's can coast downhill.

When I'm in traffic and the cars ahead of me stop, or slow down too much; I just ease off the gas to slow down instead of riding up to their bumper and slamming the brakes, then gunning it again to keep up with traffic. By easing off the gas I can usually slow down enough to never have to tap my brakes, and as the cars start advancing I can apply steady pressure to the pedal to get back up to speed. My instant MPG reading loves this behavior.

seriously try it I'm not saying press it much just a hair ever so slightly you will see they don't cost freely, always decelerating ya you still coast but not free.

well with a big truck with offroad tires, you are definitely not going very far when you let off the gas...... but if we wanted better gas mileage, we would have gotten something else......
