MPGs of 87 perf tune vs 93 perf tune

This may have been covered but I couldn't find it. For those who've run 87 performance tune from 5Star and 93 performance tune, specifically, have you noticed a mpg difference between the two?

I have the 87 and the 91 performance. No 93 around my part of the woods.
I used to run 87, then I switched to 91 octane with the 87 tune. it did better and ran stronger. Then I did the 91 tune and run 91 fuel.
I used to get 12-13 mpg on 87. It increased about a mile per gal on the 91 fuel. when I switched to 91 tune and fuel, I get a solid 14-15 all the time and if I decide to actually do the speed limit and just cruise, I can get upwards of 16-17 mpg.
Hope that helps.

Thanks! I get about 1mpg more running 93 vs 87 on stock tune. I'm getting 11.5 mpgs with my driving habits now. I have the Livewire on order with a whole bunch of tunes, but I'm trying to decide between the 87 and 93 perf. I would prefer not to lose mpgs, or if I do, to at least fill up on 87. It's a $15 difference per tank. Decisions decisions...

I get about 1.5mpg better when I run the 93 Performance tune v/s 87. If manually shift and keep my speed 55 and under, I get about 18.5 using 87 octane and 20 with 93 octane. As soon as the speed begins to get in the 60's and beyond, it falls...80's and I'm starting to close in on low teens. I took a 250 mile road trip this weekend...GPS average speed of 65 mph and got 17.5mpg with the 93 Performance tune.

Also, I have noticed a difference with the brands of fuel...it seems that Shell 93 octane consistently gives me a little better mileage than compared premium fuels at Exxon, BP, or Kroger.

This was a 67 mile round trip, manual shift, 35-55mph (keeping the speed limits) in 6th gear the whole way 20.2 mpg...

On my brain
I am assuming we are discussing 5star tunes. Keep in mind, the canned SCT tunes are great overall tunes.

I switch fuel and tune every fillup just for fun of it. The way the transmission behaves withe 93oct tune kills mpg. It is certainly different behavior with the 87perf. If you shift conservative manually you could conceivably see improvement. I am trying that now. If you drive a lot in the city with that tune I see a drop in mpg compared to other tunes. This game is a learning process lol.

That's what I figured. Mpg numbers between trucks are pointless IMO, but compared with the same truck it's worth something to me. I get better mileage with 93 octane vs 87 octane on stock tune, so it stands to reason I'll get better mileage with a 93 tune vs a 87 tune, barring a lead foot. I'm hoping to get the same mpgs with a 87 perf tune that I get now with 93 octane stock. 11.5 mpg. That would be nice. If not, at the very least get the same mpgs with a 93 perf tune. 11.5 is low already. I don't need it any lower. But it sure would be nice to fill up with 87 all the time. It's between .40 and $.50 cheaper per Fallon here in Tampa. A $15 savings per tank. But if I get lower mpgs with lower octane, those $15 savings evaporate.

But now I have an AC problem I'll need to correct before I tune the car. Don't want the dealer getting squirrelly on me because of it...

20,000 miles current average is 12.7 reset at last oil change. I was up around 13 for most of the first 15,000 but now I just am enjoying the go pedal more, and don't care about the loss of mpg!!!

I'm running 5star on mine. The key to getting the best mpg with the 93 Performance tune is to shift manually into 6th, otherwise it holds 5th gear too long. Leaving it in Auto is great for playing on the street, but most of the time, I'm just commuting and appreciate the added mpg.

I asked Chris if it was possible to get a performance tune with a less aggressive shifting strategy. He said it was, so that's what I ordered. Haven't received it yet but will try both to see which one I like better.
