From my last shift...I'm very happy with the truck, it has been excellent in all conditions, so far.
Edit: Now that break-up has started, I realize how badly I need tires!!
Yeah, the mud is pretty crazy...and this is just the start of break-up. The road I was on in the pic with the Dodge is a side or access road out to 3-4 leases and for the most part, pickups only travel on it at this time of year. The "main" road that gets you out there has lots of heavy trucks and equipment on it all day...vac trucks, tri-axle tankers, semi's, frac trucks, etc all chained up for the mud...they tear the road completely apart. It gets very rough and badly rutted out and it's all dry and sticky, or wet, sloppy clay mud...dragging the belly a lot and just plowing along to the next access road to more wells. It's pretty hairy for sure.
Edit: ...and it's three times as bad if there are big hills...it's all you can do to make it up some of them...seriously. I've always made it up any hill I've had to go up, but I have seen lots being pulled up with a Cat or skidder or whatever.
As far as clean up goes, it usually takes 45 minutes to an hour at the car wash to get it half decent, but it's hard to get much on the underside. Once it is warm enough, we have a drive up ramp/wash rack in our camp to use to get the mud off under the truck.
Good times! lol!
